I was awarded the AROTC 4 year to VMI and the Citadel. I have been accepted to both. I don't have much time to decide which I will be choosing to attend. I would love to speak to anyone that has any insight or experience with either of the two. message me if anyone has any advice for me. Thank you.

Congratulations on your 4 year AROTC scholarship! Not sure you can go wrong with either school. I assume there is no way you can make a visit to either school? I'm certain a visit could help you decide.

My DS is currently on a 4 year AROTC scholarship at VMI. Feel free to send me a PM.

The two schools are markedly different in many regards and you'll want to visit and ask important questions at each visit. PM me and I'll help out any way I can. And good luck!

I highly advise a visit... My DS was all about one school until his visited both schools and then reversed his decision between the two.

Visiting is ideal so you can get a feel for each school. I have no real knowledge of the Citadel. My son is a 4th Class Cadet at VMI and he loves it. It is very physically, mentally and academically demanding. Post is located in a mountain area and is beautiful. The climate at the Citadel will be more temporate. If you have specific questions feel free to PM me, I can ask my Cadet and get back to you.

The choice of a college is a big decision that should not be rushed but if you are facing a deadline try to at least contact cadets from both schools because they can probably give you the most accurate and unbiased insight. If at all possible try to visit both schools to try to find which one feels like the best fit; many similarities, some differences like size, climate, setting and academic offerings. The academic program you want to major in should be a major factor so do your homework and find out about the various programs, sometimes it boils down to your best judgement and gut feeling but both are great schools.

@walk97 - my DD has also been accepted into both schools and we have visited both in the past two weeks; she did overnights at both schools. They are vastly different. I will agree with the other posters that you really cannot choose between without visiting both. I highly encourage you to find a way to get there. Good luck to you!
