Hello! I'm the parent of a future USNA hoepful. My son has always wanted to be in the military. Over the past year, he's decided he wants to be a Marine Corp officer and he wants to do it by going through the US Naval Academy. He has a few years yet, but I figured I can start looking at information for him. He is interested in joining a forum, but he's just starting 8th grade and I don't know if there are any here that are that young. I thought I'd check before I give my permission. I'm here hoping to talk with other parents and future cadets on how to help him stay motivated. Thanks!

Dear rictyryja,

Welcome to the forums! I'm glad to hear that your son has an interest in USNA. Just so you know there are kids here who are that young who join the forums. It's good he's starting young, he'll have plenty of time to boost his candidancy competitiveness in terms of EC's, academics, and physical fitness, ect. I'm a future cadet for the United States Military Academy Class of 2014, so if you ever have a question about USNA or any of the other service academies, ask away. There are plenty of great and knowledgeable people on this forum who can answer your questions thoroughly. Once again, welcome to the forums, and good luck on your sons quest!:thumb:

Very respectfully,
Kevin

Hi there and welcome to the forums! I am the same age as your son, and I know of a few others also the same age. I've found this site to be very helpful in my quest to become a USAFA class of 2018 cadet.

Welcome to the forums and good luck, it's a challenging but rewarding journey. :thumb:

Hello,

Welcome to the forums. I am a candidate for USAFA class of 2014. This site has become one of the greatest resources for me, and for many other candidates for all of the academies. There are actually a good amount of 8th and 9th graders on this site, and I believe that they have a big advantage. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think some people have already created social groups for the class of 2018. I give my highest recommendation to both you and your son for this site. Good luck to him in the coming years.

Later,

Brian

Thanks for the welcome! I will definitely let my son sign up and you'll hear more from him than me. Thanks again
