I need some help in finding some former or present advisors (that is ADVISORS, not operational troops) who served in Irag or Afghanistan over the past years. I am putting together a college class based on my experiences working in a foreign culture as a Naval Advisor aboard riverboats in Vietnam and I want it to point towards the (probably) similar challenges current advisors in the middle east have. Sort of like your old English teachers demand to "compare and contrast". The problem is that outside of the internet, I have no experienced contacts in the military to go to.

Please PM with a contact if you can help---I check my mail here daily--and many thanks for your help in advance. I am a little shocked as I have 40+ students signed up at this point.

    SPUD,
    Do you mean civilian advisors?

Many operational troops served as advisors, whether it be the original MATT, MiTT, MTT, SFAT, SFAB, etc. Some came from "out of hide" units and others were sent in teams from the states for a specific advisor mission.

Actually, I am not picky. Either civilian or military as it is the experiences of the advisors in trying to do their job in culture drastically different than ours is what I am hoping to hear about.
