Is Anyone Still Waiting?

Talking to the Admissions people - I expect at least 200 offers will go out within the next week. Many of these will be from Congressional Districts that used competitive nominations (no Principle appointments).

A few offers from people with Principle Appointments are being delayed pending the outcome of medical waivers.

By the end of March about 90%+(estimate) of the class will be filled.

My DS is one principal nominee waiting on a medical waiver so our district offers are all pending I imagine.

Did anyone hear from the admissions? Is no TWE still a good news?

dell,

I am in the same situation. At this point no news is better than bad news. Admissions meets tomorrow and each following Tuesday. Hopefully tomorrow they make some application decisions. The wait is tough but worth it.

Facebook West Point Admissions page as of 5 hours ago:

"As of today, we have 609 candidates who have accepted appointments to join the Class of 2018. There are 317 who are currently still in the "offered" status. Candidates may want to contact their regional commander for a status update."

I am one of the 317. I am so anxious to accept my appointment, but I can't get myself to do it based on the fact that I may have another (or two more) appointment(s) coming. Still probably would go WP though. Pardon the rant.

Congratulations on your appointment to USMA!... I have not been following USNA forum very closely, but noticed you a have a principle nomination there... any feed back from them?... Didn't realize the cut at USNA is tougher than USMA. Was USNA your first choice? My DS has an USAFA nom as well as 3 USMA noms... not part of the 317 or the 609... yet... USAFA has become an after thought... but no TWE yet...

Best of luck

Thanks! About that navy nomination... I embarrassingly misheard my rep when he said USMA. Why not just call it West Point? I went around the next day telling all my teachers that wrote me recs that I got into navy, which led to me going back around and telling them it was not so later on. Navy was my first choice (you hear what you want to hear) and air force before that, but now people have convinced me to embrace WP. I have no military background and don't know which one suits me best. If I don't get accepted to any other academies my decision sure gets easier though! Good luck to your DS!

Great story!!!... USMA USNA... Same difference.... Wait it out who knows they all may come through. Your future is bright either way... Again best of luck.

DS still waiting in GA. Plan B is in place. Will reapply next year if it doesn't happen this year...just trying to enjoy the rest of senior year :thumb:

DS medical waiver is in remedial process as of 3/5. Returned all requested materials & evaluations within 5 days of request. Hoping for a quick answer. Plans B & C are underway. But Plan B (ROTC) disappears without the waiver, too. Tough spot, but God is in control!

If he doesn't receive a waiver for WP, he may get one for ROTC and visa versa.

So far the ROTC admins we have communicated with say "No". They can apply for waivers for existing ROTC members but not incoming. DS has accepted an ROTC scholarship but it is dependent on this waiver... Or so we've been told.
