Is it okay to bring *this* on I-Day?

I plan to bring my ILBE and fins and swim jammers to the Academy, but I was advised to have my parents bring them PPW and stow them at my Sponsors house unless I can find room for my fins and jammers.

Now, my PTR recommended I bring extra things like spandex shorts and socks. I was wondering, could I also bring moleskin and my own boots to I-Day? I've talked to one current Plebe and he recommended I buy a different pair of boots because the ones issued will tear your feet up. I bought the ones he recommended which happen to be the same kind my father wears in the Army. I'm thinking moleskin would be a good idea in general for the likely occurrence of blisters. Any thoughts if these are okay to bring on I-Day?

My son took 2 pairs of running shoes(he is a runner) and some extra compression shorts, his cell phone and charger, wallet with $60.00, ID and his debit card, toiletries and extra copies of the PTR paperwork. We sent care packages with clif bars, etc...
He said the toiletry bag was never touched since he was issued everything he needed, including moleskin. I think he appreciated having the extra compression shorts and his own running shoes but beyond that he was happy he travelled light. Never heard any boot complaints. I think that may be more of an issue at West Point?

I would advise against bringing boots -- the last thing you want to do is stand out. I'm not sure it's even allowed. You're going to be issued boots anyway and those are fine for plebe summer. Just double-up on the socks to prevent blisters. Come the academic year you will rarely wear your NWU's. Unless the PTR specifically says boots are authorized, just wait until after plebe summer.

You'll be issued plenty of compression shorts, underwear, and socks. Laundry pick-up is bi-weekly during PS. I promise you won't run out of anything. I would opt for blister band-aids instead of moleskin (you're going to be issued both but might run out) simply because moleskin takes time to cut. You won't have that time during a uniform race or before PEP.

The only thing my son requested extra during plebe summer were additional compression shorts in black and white.

Good advice on leaving fins and swim gear until after plebe summer. Also recommend you leave the boots behind too. They will issue boots, you will be fine along with the rest of your classmates. Its just more stuff to carry around. Even if you brought them they may tell you they are going in storage until after Plebe Summer.

under the radar -- do not take anything -it will be stored and you don't have time to use them nor the room to store them.

Lean and mean. Add stuff later on in ac year, once you have the lay of the land.

You're issued mole skin. At least we were. Don't worry about bringing it. As for the boots, I recommend buying another pair, but don't bring them to plebe summer because I doubt you will be allowed to wear them.
