Is it possible to get in with a C?

I'm a sophomore currently with a C showing up on my transcript. If I had more Cs in the future, would it endanger my chances? (More meaning one or two total). I am in IB classes if that carries extra weight.

I had a C once. Don't fret, you're not doomed.

But yeah, try to stay away from those.

Obviously an A is the best, but I think schools look more favorably upon someone who has taken an IB class and gotten a C, versus someone who's taken microwave cooking and gotten an A. Seriously, my high school had that class, but they dropped it. :/

A lone "C" as a soph is unlikely to hurt. However, a C as a junior or senior -- especially in a "core" course such as English, calc, etc. -- could hurt.

Yes you can!

When I was at CVW in October, my midshipman told me she had a C in chemistry. Just be sure you can explain it and you can still get in!

What if it is more than one C. Maybe 2 or 3. Just assuming worst possible scenario. What would be the borderline for pure rejection? This is including IB classes.

Yeah it's possible. I got a C in AP chem my junior year, granted it was a 79%. (Keep in mind IB is the same as AP). But I also had a lot of other stuff to make up for it in my wcs. I wouldn't risk getting more than one C.. Good luck!

If I may make the conversation a little more specific for my own situation, I have a C at the moment in AP Literature. If for some reason I cant bring it up by the end of the semester, would that show badly that I cant finish strong or something to that affect?

allaheadfull, I'm currently in your same questioning. Could you let me know if you find answers?

Don't worry about a C...hopefully it was earlier in your high school studies and hopefully you were able to show that you were able to improve that grade over the next couple of years. I was accepted with a C in Algebra II/Trig Honors sophomore year of high school. But I was able to receive As after that in my math courses. Just show that you are able to recover and improve, that's the key.
