The USNA portal has changed to reflect that my DS has received a Nom from his representative. The representative designates a principle nom and then submits the other 9 noms unranked. Would DS's portal say PRINCIPLE if he was the principle? It says.... Congress/Representative.

Your DS should call the MOC's office and ask if he is the Principal nominee or 1 of the alternates. To the best of my knowledge, <others will correct me I'm sure> the is no designation in the CIS portal of Principal or Alternate's. Congratulations to your son!

Correct! The portal will not show what kind of nomination was given, but calling to find out is a great idea. I called and found out I had a principal nom on 12 DEC, I recieved my BFE 2 days ago!

Thanks for the replies. I guess he'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out since all gov't offices are closed today...and no mail either! Sure hope it's a principal nom...but even with the alternate nom I'm a very proud Mom!! Thanks for all the well wishes!

You could also try calling your admissions counselor. This is what I did last year to find out what the status of my application was and he told me that I had a principal nomination.
