Hi all,

I was in AROTC for about two years at my university but I never contracted, I was medically disqualified for taking antidepressants over 6 years ago. Since then I've been going through college and have about a year left until I graduate. My question is, when I apply for OTS, OCS, etc; will I have to put down that again? Or will they just pull up my old dodmerb records (which my exam was done about 2.5 years ago)? Does OCS, OTS and all the others use MEPS or DODMERB? I want to do this the right way so any advice and knowledge would be great!

Thanks!

OCS/OTS use DoDMERB.

DoDMERB is good for two years from the date of exam then you must start over.

Yes you will have to put that down. You talk about doing it the "right way" but you sort of sound like you're asking if you can conceal a previously disqualifying issue.

If you truthfully and completely answer all required medical history forms, that is the right way, including specifics on diagnoses and medications prescribed, especially dates.

Even if your old DoDMERB was still within the 2-year viability window, you’d have to update with any changes to your medical history since then.

Ah after rereading my post it does imply that. I guess I’m just wondering if they’ll can just pull up my old DODMERB records and then continue with waivers and such there. Another comment said that the exams only last 2 years, so I’m guessing I would have to go through all the paperwork/processes again?

So I called the clinic where I got prescribed my antidepressants and they told me I was never diagnosed with depression, as my records don’t explicitly state it. Does the DOD consider them to be one in the same?

This really should be a DoDMERB question for Mr Mullen.
