I received my nomination on January 31 and I am also triple qualified. I haven't heard of anything from the Naval Academy and I am really starting to worry, since people say most acceptances are given out in February. :(

i have been reading the posts here for a few weeks and what i have read says the majority of appointments actually go out in the months of FEB and MAR and nearly all by early APR

The worry is understandable, if undesirable. Be of good courage, many big envelopes yet to be mailed by 15 April (and some beyond). And courage also calls for facing the reality that while many will be found gleeful over the coming 6 weeks, the days and spots are dwindling. It's hard being fully encouraging about dreams absent being patronizing.

And that's clear call to be joyful ... in all things. Worry is wasted. To the degree you have done all that can be done as well as possible, that is the victory! You have run as hard as you can, and won your race. And THAT is the truth. Congrats and best wishes to all of the young men and women (and their loving parents) that dreams will come true.

In these difficult days of our nation, it is such an encouragement realizing that there are so many genuinely fine young folks in our midst who desire to embrace and serve our nation and people.

Is there anyone on this site who has received an appointment in March? Being the second week in March already, things start to worry me.

Get in line! We are still waiting as well for USNA, AFA and West Point along with NROTC. FULLY qualified with noms to AFA and USMA but crossing our fingers for pre school for USNA. DS has heard back from AFROTC, didn't get one but did get offered a 4 year ROTC Scholarship so we have a back up. Who would have thought a 4 year ROTC scholarship would be someones back up? DS knows how lucky he is but still wants the brass ring.... Here's hoping everyone hears back soon and it's good news....But if not, how wonderful for our kids to go after something so big at an early age! I hope SOMEONE hears back soon from ANY academy! This is getting silly exspecially for us parents! School deadlines are fast approaching for acceptance and good dorm spots!

WHO WILL BE THE FIRST TO GET A BFE IN MARCH?!

slightly off topic here ...but anyway :shake:... keep in mind that many(but not all) "backup" schools can be understanding and somewhat lenient on deposit deadlines if they know a candidate is waiting to hear from a service academy.....we actually kept our DS "backup" school on "ready-alert" standby status for a few days after I-Day(July) with no major problems or penalties....simply lost a small deposit on a dorm room......figured it was just one more small insurance premium :thumb:
Good luck to all qualified candidates on getting that BFE...:thumb:
    :director:...GO NAVY !!!

Last year's 2014 appointment thread dated 4/27 does offer some hope for March appointments, however a vast majority of appointments were issued in January, February and before. Obviously the thread is not a full representation of all appointments and 2015 may be different, but it is likely a good representation of when a majority of appointments are offered. As the clock ticks closer to April we see fewer appointments.

Good luck to all, keep the faith and firm up alternative plans

My b/g officer wasnt joking when he said that waiting is the hardest part of the entire process. I just got my 4 year NROTC packet in the mail yesterday (yay! backup plan) and now I am just waiting on AFA or NA.

My grandma did ask me this "Is no news good news?" A friend of mine got her rejection letter 2 weeks ago so I am hoping that what my grandma said is true.

    Keeping the fingers crossed :thumb:

Appointments are still being given out

I just spoke to a very close friend of mine who works at USNA and is in the "know" about the appointment process. I do know that the boards are still regularly meeting and appointments are still going to be offered, as well as spots at NAPS. I do NOT know how many slots are remaining. I was told that there will be a smaller class of 2015, both at USNA and NAPS due to endstrength reductions. Again, I was not told what those numbers will be. My DS is still waiting to hear, but is fortunate to have an NROTC scholarship as a backup plan. We are mailbox stalking!

Exactly!!! I spoke to our ALO at the academy and he told me they haven't even touched California yet, it's a huge state with over 52 districts.....((sigh)) we're in district 52:shake:

If so, and I have to question the CA issue as over-generalized, that is less than good news for non-Californians. Would mean too many of too few remaining spots are headed to the left Coast. Amazing how challenging it can be to get straight answers.

No way trying to be a party pooper, but as a point of information, and perhaps others can illuminate this somewhat, IF a candidate has in fact landed these "feathers" thus far, 'twould seem sorely unlikely that he would be a candidate for NAPS or USNA foundation programs. Probably too strong, don't you think? Congrats in any and all cases! Keep it rolling!:thumb:

Mr Whistle, they have the same amount of openings as they do every year, remember that each MOC/Senator has a slate to fill, many of those have not been assigned yet, its a huge and competitive state. This info was directly from our admissions officer there at the academy.

I know of at least one call received this month...but no way would I rain on their parade by letting the cat out of the bag before they have a chance!

DS got his call from Senator this week last year...hang in there!:thumb:

We have a newspaper clipping dated 1/20/11 congratulating an appointment for a Livermore,CA boy. He got his letter near Christmas so some CA districts have been looked at. He got Sen. Feinstein's nom. Best Wishes for you.

Thanks mtnro. As noted earlier, apparently the notion that CA apptmts were on the come was not fully accurate and definitely over-generalizing. Thus no matter who mighta said it, the info would seem to be inaccurate. SD, ever heard of the old song and dance? Don't believe everything you're told. Even from USNA admissions in March.

My point included that IF all CA apptmts. remained to be made, that would severely limit remaining apptmts for the other 49 states and handful of territories. Not that the number of apptmts had somehow changed. (Of course it well could ...depending upon how many CA candidates went into the national pool, had noms from the other sources, etc. It changes EVERY year, literally.) In any case, it seems the allegation re: CA apptmts. is pure mythology.

    Good luck to all! :thumb:
