Is there an advantage to applying earlier to Summer Seminar?

I have begun my application and have completed everything except for the optional test scores portion of the application. I have taken the ACT unprepared once at the beginning of this semester, however, I am not content with the score for turning it in. This has lead me to wonder is it worth it for me to wait to get my scores back from the ACT on December 10th? Also is it imperative to submit scores and does it help my chances? Lastly, what are the advantages and disadvantages of submitting this application in for the Academy?

Thank You in advance!

If I recall correctly USAFA SS does not have rolling admissions. (I know that WP SLE definitely has rolling admissions.) So, there is no advantage in submitting your application early.

I also know that USAFA is probably the most competitive of the summer seminars because it has one the smallest programs. Thus, it is best to submit your strongest application. I believe that is better to see if your ACT score will go up.

Bottomline, it is better to wait. My DS#2 is in the same situation as you.

As for the advantages and disadvantages, my DS#1 went to USAFA SS and had a great time. Learned a lot about the USAFA and got a taste of what it has to offer. So it helped him during his interviews and writing his personal essay because he could speak from experience. I believe his squad leader filled out an evaluation that went to the admissions board. But other than that there is no real advantage. And there is no disadvantage at all. You don't get extra points for going to SS, and you won't be negatively affected if you don't get accepted.

I remember applying last year VERY early. I had my application in within the first week it was open. If I remember correctly, it was rolling admissions (I was accepted well before the deadline). Applying early also shows them your level of interest, so get it done early, but put some thought into your application.

Son submitted applications the day they opened to USAFA and USNA summer seminars. He was accepted to USAFA summer seminar and turned down to USNA summer seminar.

Are you referring to SLE or USAFA SS? I'm pretty sure USAFA didn't send out notifications before January 15 which is normally it's deadline. SLE definitely did.
