It's March 28, 2016 and still CPR...

I don't intend to be negative but I'm sure if we don't hear anything back earlier than Friday, it must be a TWE.

Sorry if this question has been asked or is on the wrong thread. My question is, if you are still showing CPR does that mean you are being considered for Naps/Foundation? Also, are the wait list candidates considered to be what they have referred to as "over qualified" for these spots? Also, if someone on the CPR list are still in the running for an appointment, then those candidates are considered to be more qualified than the waitlist candidates? So what does it really mean to be wait listed at this time over CPR? I know I'm rambling off questions that probably have no answer but after two years of this roller coaster ride with my DS, I'm dizzy and exhausted. Best of luck to all those still riding!

I don't think you can conclude that at all. I don't think anybody knows what any of this means. A wave of rejections and then a wave of wait lists and then another wave of rejections. None of it makes any sense in the traditional manner of how most colleges make admissions decisions. So maybe I'm just overly optimistic but it seems to me that if you have made it this far they must be seriously considering you and anything can happen between now and Friday. So try to relax as best you can. It won't be much longer.

Congrats 3Tombro3, great job! You got what I've been told is the "Golden Ticket" to USNA! Get a chance to hone up your study skills even more and max out your CFA! Doesn't get any better, plus you get to go into the academy with a great edge! Piece of cake, you got this! We come aboard, sir! GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY!

Indeed, a Foundations offer is fabulous news. Resist the urge to think of this as anything but a blessing. Several on this forum who were offered Foundations thought of it as "being held back" or "having to stay one more year in high school." DO NOT THINK LIKE THIS. This is the gift of an extra year of maturity and many other things. I recommend going as far away from home as possible. Take the courses you were afraid to take in high school for fear of lowering your gpa (huge assumption but almost every kid I know does this). Also, you will now do the PRT and NOT the CFA. Running, crunches and pushups. See ya, basketball throw! Another bit of advice: DO NOT constantly stay in contact with all of your buddies at State U who might be "having the time of their lives". You have signed up for a different path. Their ways are not your ways--and their "fun" is defined differently than yours. Your fun comes with a BFE at the end and a ticket to one of the best Universities in the US followed by a career (maybe) as a Naval Officer.

3Tombro3,, this advice is right on!

(IMHO), nodiva is the resident USNA Foundation guru on the USNA Forum.

E-mail from one of the Admissions Counselors. "No final decision has been made for your son's application. We will have all admissions decisions emailed out by this Friday. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Have a great day."
Why is a parent emailing admissions? Shouldn't that come from the applicant? Or at least have the appearance of coming from the applicant (their email/name). They are applying to be future leaders. Coaches/colleges don't want to hear from parents. Just a suggestion. Probably not the best timing but good info for future reference. Best of luck, hope you and your DS get good news.

I think I may be the only one on the naval academy forums that finally heard something back today. I received a foundation class of 2020 offer with a phone call this morning! I am very excited for the opportunity and I am happy to finally hear something back. I have to admit I was a little disappointed that I didn't get in this year because 2020 has such a nice ring to it, but I think by this time next year 2021 will sound better. I have heard nothing but good things in regards to prep before Naval Academy admission, especially from my father, who took 2 extra years before getting into the Academy, so I am very excited to receive this opportunity to develop even more before next year. I was a little surprised to see the foundation offer, so even if you don't think you're the candidate they're looking for, keep your hope up!

Good luck to anyone still waiting!
Do you know which academy or college you will attend prep year?

I was wondering the same thing!

Still CPR today. So many highs and lows in the last 24 hours for candidates like me...I'm hungry for a decision!

Good suggestion - DS is too busy with NJROTC (Battalion Commander type commitments), volunteer commitments, church, work, and other commitments. As an active duty marine w/ over 21 yrs of service, I would prefer e-mailing another member of the military than pretend that I am my DS.

Turned by USNA... Its off to Yale for me with no hesitation. When we compete against (crew) USNA in various regatta over the next years, Ill dig a bit deeper and remember this feeling. At least for me, I know that a lot of schools wanted me, (Yale, Harvard, Cornell, UPENN, Stanford, Chicago, Purdue, Michigan and TAMU). Remember for those who got the TWE, it is USNA loss and some other schools gain, one door closes and another opens. To those still here on island and to CLASS of 2020 good luck.

DS received TWE at 13:50. Off to USMMA he goes. Good luck to all USNA class of 2020 and those still waiting to hear.
