January 4, 2011 AROTC Board

scholarship link

I have had it book marked for months and have never had a problem...it wont connect for me either and Im using firefox so its not an explorer thing....it must be their site...maybe they took it down so they can post all of our scholarship offers in the morning:rolleyes:!! Dare to dream!

AROTC Site Down

The AROTC site is down so I called the AROTC scholarship status phone number and the status remains the same as Friday "You have been selected for an interview". Hang in there everyone, many of us have been involved in the AROTC scholarship process since June 2010.

I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Isaiah 6:8

NCRanger - love your Isaiah scripture and the hymm "Here I Am Lord", so much meaning in so many different ways:angel:

Its been a crazy ride -- DS submitted his application Feb2010 and has been ready for boards since July...Like you said, we've just gotta hang on a bit longer (and some of us will be hanging on thru April and beyond...). I've never tried a phone number, however, is that on the goarmy site? Just curious.

Glad to hear it isn't just an Explorer thing--I hate changing the computer stuff, just when I get a few things figured out something changes and I have to start all over again:biggrin:

Have a good night all.

.

Love the quote too 1888 251 6983 is the AROTC scholarship status #...DS is unchanged as well via telephone....still needs to "schedule the interview" which he had in July :)

The status page is down because it appears the web domain registration expired. Some much have forgotten to pay the bill. :shake:

Sure it will get fixed in the morning.

Another anxious AROTC scholarship candidate here, missed the deadline for the October board by a couple of days unfortunately. It's finally January and I'm definitely ready for the results to come out. The only thing that concerns me about my application is my poor fitness score. I'm not a strong runner, and I was fighting a cold at the time. Other than that, at the time of my interview I had a 3.89 unweighted GPA, full IB classes (similar to AP, but more rigorous), I've played on my school's golf team for four years this year and I'm team captain, I was the secretary of a club one year and the president of it the next, two year link crew leader (introducing freshmen into the high school experience), 1820 SAT, community service projects, 23/360 some in my class, went to the USCGA's summer AIM program and graduated, and I had a great interview at Oregon State University for the application. I got accepted to OSU, and it's the only school I've applied to. Looking to be career Army, hoping for either aviation or possibly going infantry.

If you don't get a scholarship this time around, do they notify you?

This is where you get routed from the status link now. Check the top center. They have let the domain expire, how amateur.

The US military and US government have generic top level domain (gTLD) and domain name authority (they own the name & ip address) On the domain name server the domain name has to correctly redirect to the proper ip address, if the web site was taken down without a redirect page, your local internet provider supplies a default page, like the one shown above.

So someone probably took the site down to update it and failed to link to a 'down for maintenance' page... still a screw up, but domain name servers are a pain, and they are probably doing a blind redirect as well (the address you see may redirect to a .mil or .gov ip address)

OK so the scholarship status site is still down as of 8:45 Eastern Time. Is this normally what happens when they are updating statuses?

January 10th

Good morning. Well, the link is still down. DS and I are not going to read anything into it regarding results being posted, its TOO SOON.

Floridadad and Gojack, thanks for looking into this for us, I kind of understand what gojack is explaining happened, but then again, not:wink:. I just hope is up and running soon.

Please, all of you that are now all excited about results - here is my understanding from previous posts/threads. The January board met 4-7Jan, now this week all of Oct boards files get married up with the Jan board files - the order is established, the schools that still have slots are identified(who took what in Oct) and then and only then will results be determined. Typically it seems to take a week to complete this step and the results have been posted onto the website (check DodMERB status change) a week later. This totals approximately 10 business day from the end of Jan board(7Jan) which would put results out 24Jan-28Jan factoring for MLK and seeing the pattern in the Oct results being released over a period of days in random order. So I hope this helps, those more informed that me, please chime in and correct me as needed (ClarksonArmy?). My DH and I celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary on 28Jan...hoping we can add DS's AROTC acceptance into our plans.

Take care!:wiggle:

Cc application status website is up/no results

The website link is working, again. There was no change or update to DS status, as gojack/Floridadad tried to explain, it was a problem on CC part with the site. IF you had a status change, please post soon so we can all begin to go crazy, again, wondering what it means....

Ohioparent

Your son has great stats! I am shocked he was not selected at the first board. Good luck I am sure he will be chosen.

I just noticed that my DS status on DoDMERB has added "US Army ROTC" to the list as of today (1/10/11). Is this a good sign? Or am I reading too much into this???? AROTC still says "You have been selected for an interview."

patentesq,

Did your son have his dodmerb physical already, they sometimes add that after the physical. I wouldn't read to much into that yet. My son received his scholarship on the first board and his status on dodmerb didn't change for a couple days. The first board was on October 25th and the status changes began on Novemebr 15th I believe so there is still some time to go. It may even take a bit longer due to the fact that they probably have a greater number of applications to go through and they will most likely be awarding more scholarships this board then the last. On top of that Cadet Command just completed their move to Fort Knox.

Status Website

The website is still down for me. I'm still getting the same results as the earlier posts from this morning. As with others, it was working fine last week.

AROTC Site Status

The AROTC site is back up and the status has not changed. Hang in there everyone, we should be seeing some changes in the next couple of days.:thumb:

JcLeppe: Yes, he initiated all of his DoDMERB exams in connection with his co-pending USMA application. He's been medically qualified for some time. He did not get his AROTC application done in time for the first board (he applied AROTC in November), because he wanted to improve his APFT scores (he's been working on this for months!). But he has passed the USMA CFA, and he should be hearing from USMA at the same time he hears from AROTC (he had everything together for the January AROTC board). His dedication has impressed me.

I would be surprised if anyones status changes before Jan. 25th. It took 3 weeks for anything to change for the first board. Once you see a status change it will be at least a few more days before either you hear from a ROO, or if you contact them, they tell you anything. Some ROO's may tell you something but the word from cadet command is to stay mum until it is official.

The wait can be agony I know, but you probably have at least a couple more weeks to go yet. Hang in there.
