Just curious...

my status on dodmerb says in process and i got deffered 3 weeks ago. does this mean cga never contacted dodmerb? to me it seems they are disorganized and don't know what they are doing.

DODMERB is not disorganized, they do a good job despite the flaw in their computer system that continues to change the Admissions Status date field almost daily.

The winds of Change

While the ongoing saga of changing DODMERB status continues my D status changed yet again from January 7th to January 12th, this was after changes the 5th, 6th and 7th. No changes 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th.

Admission Status: Alternate
Change Date: 12-JAN-2010

I am sure it does not mean anything but it keeps me amused while waiting for RA. I have one question for people who have been seeing changes in their status, have they submitted any new information to their files since EA. I believe that my D's ACT that she took in October was not in her file during the initial EA review.

update

No news from CGA but i figured I'd update all my new friends. My daughter just received her MOC nomination to USNA. I hope she'll get to make difficult decision between Duke NROCT/USNA/CGA. That would be a great position to be in. I know my decision was much easier when I graduated HS. Get a job! :yllol:

So did anyone every figure out the difference between "alternate" and "in process"?

Ladderdaddy,

Congrats to you and your daughter! What great options! Hoping for the best for you and everyone else still waiting!

We are "alternate" for CGA and "in process" for USNA. Is anyone "in process" for CGA? If so, were you EA or RA? Son was EA and is now RA. Had an interview this week. Hopefully, it only helps!

Applied EA for CGA. Deferred to RA. Since September, status has read "qualified for CGA and Merchant Marine". Has read as "in process" for CGA and has never changed whatsoever since day one with dates or an "alternate" status.

Merchant Marine status is qualified and reads "offer extended". However, no offer extended...never even finished application process for MMA.

cgadreamer,

I have to admit that I am confused by some of the admissions terminology. Is there a difference between "alternate" and "in process"? Is one better/worse than the other? I seriously don't know! I actually thought everyone who was deferred from EA to RA automatically became "alternate". But, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Some of this stuff is still a mystery to me!

You say you never finished your application to USMMA. Are you not considering that Academy any more? Seems like there's some great opportunities there also. My son is interested in KP also. If it's not too late, you might want to think about it! (Just my 2 cents!)

Good luck!!

I have the mail box in my sights.

When should we start stalking the mail person again?:shake::shake:

If I recall correctly, once you get the letter stating that your application is to go before the CCEB, it takes another few weeks (3 or 4...maybe it was more...) for the decision to be in the mail. I think some may be waiting considerably longer though...DS's first year the wait list letter didn't go out (actually it was an email) until very late April. Some were lucky though, and got off the waitlist in May for the class of 2012.

Sending good vibes your way...I do remember how awful the waiting was!

But we still have no clarifiation on the difference between alternate and in process....

My son was deferred from EA to RA and his DoDMERB status is "in process".

Looks like now will work. According to a post by Objee in another thread, three appointments have already been offered to deferred EA's.

I was all relaxed and fine knowing that we had a few more weeks before the anxiety of "mail watch" began. That's over. Now that rush of emotion has hit and the house is all excited again! Poor Mail Lady.

Shoot! I thought we had at least the month of February to relax! I thought EA's weren't going to be re-evaluated til at least February 15th!

I just got out of the habit of looking for the mailmanlady's pick-up truck, and now I'll have to start all over again!

Please let it be good news!

Fair and Imchatt,

I think we will pretty much be the ones relaxing in February. I feel for Objee and others on the admissions board however. They have a ton of files to go through. So February is actually only "chill" for us. Looking back at old posts and chatting with Shellz, we probably will here closer to the end of March, early April. I'm guessing that the 3 EA deferrals that heard were probably kids they needed to fill DIV3 sports spots, but I'm only speculating. Chat soon. -officer

Boy does this sound familiar!! Our mailman thought (knew?) I was nuts when I would run to the mailbox as soon as I heard his truck come round the bend...

Last year JCollins and I thought that maybe sending brownies or cookies to the admissions office might speed things up.

Chocolate, wine, and a good nap. All proven stress reducers...try one. Or try them all! Waiting will be much easier

I know, I remember reading about ya'll wanting to send goodies through the mail. I actually bought a bottle a champagne for hubby and me, and Martinelli's for the boys during the EA wait. I still have them sitting in the frig waiting for RA goods news. I won't let anybody touch 'em--its kinda like my glimmer of hope and optimism when I see the fancy bottles waiting for the day to be opened when we get good RA news. We'll see
