Tim Scott (SC-62) just called me with great news! He told me that I have received a primary nomination from him to USMA! I am so excited now! He also said that "he should be hearing great things about me soon", but I think I'm just reading into that too much. Awesome news though! I hope I get an appointment now!!

I'm so excited, I just had to share!!!

My DS was a CO Flight Commander with a gal from a SC high school. I know that lots of South Carolina schools attend that Cadet Officer Leadership School.

He was a basic summer after 9th grade. Summer after 10th grade his school did not attend because he and his teammates were in the Academic Bowl Nationals in DC.

He was fortunate to go back as a cadre last summer.

My school is actually in charge of planning COLS! My school is 20 mins away from the Citadel, so my unit is usually in charge of planning everything. I went to a different leadership school at the Citadel (more PT, less classes) and loved it!

WOW Small world. Ashley Ridge no doubt?

My DS was paired with Sabrina Lxxx Dxxxxxxx

I hope she speaks well of Sean Cxxxxxx.

Anyway, congrats on your Principal Nom!

Nope, not Ashley Ridge! But I am pretty sure I know Sabrina! What a small world indeed!

And thanks, everybody! I really appreciate all the help, too!

Did he mean his "principal" nomination?

If so, congrats!

Principal nominations are automatic appointments for qualified applicants!

I just talked to my Liason Officer and he told me that a principal nom does NOT mean an automatic appointment and they can still reject me if there are more competitive candidates on the slate. Is this true?

Principle nom + 3Q'd means that WP MUST (required by law) give you an appointment. Maybe your liaison officer meant to say that you must also be fully qualified in order to receive an appointment. So if you're qualified and you have a principle nom then you're in!! Congrats!

It is automatic assuming you are 3Q. Read buff81's sticky at the top of the USMA forum re. "A Lot of Admission Information".

Will do! I hope I become 3Q soon, but first I have to find out what 3Q is and how to become 3Q:smile:

First off, if you are designated as MOC's "Principal" nominee and, here's a very important caveat, you are fully "Qualified" - academically, medically, and physically - then, by law, you will receive an appointment.

If you are the principal nominee and you, for whatever reason, fail to be qualified in one of the above three areas, then the appointment goes to someone else.

Again, if you are the principal and someone else on the slate has better ACT scores, better CFA scores, etc. you still get the appointment as long as your ACT scores, CFA scores, etc. have met the minimum qualifying standard.

Principal is a very specific term with regard to nominations. You said "Primary" earlier, which sounds similar, but, IMO, you need to make sure what kind of nominating slate your MOC sent forth to the academy.

1. Medically - has DoDMERB qualified you?
2. Physically - did you get at least the average (to be safe) on each event in the CFA?
3. Academically - have you received a qualified letter in your portal or in the mail? (Has USMA specifically requested your 7th semester transcript?)

Yes to all of these is 3Q.

1. Yes
2. Not average on everything, but I know for a fact that I did. It fail anything
3. USMA did request my 7th semester transcript
