With our graduates out at sea for at least 5 years after they leave KP, whether while actively sailing or in the military, their chances for meeting great people to date and possibility consider as a future spouse are somewhat hampered. And to be accurate, while many people meet in college, with only 11% of the KP student body being female, most Kings Pointers will not have that experience.

There are lots of great siblings who understand the wonderful education and career potential of Kings Pointers. Is anyone possibly interested in some type of Dating Website for Kings Pointers, perhaps to facilitate meeting other Kings Point family members?:thumb:

Besides Sister Appreciation weekend? ( parents weekend)
To be a female at KP certainly has its challenges but oh my on the perks! Just think, you can meet great guys who love you anyway after seeing you in horrible fitting uniforms ( that has to be on purpose), no make-up and your hair in a bun for years!
We laughed about last spring during the bell ringing ceramony. Where the heck did all those cute girls come from?

I for one really don't think they need a way to meet and greet at this time, that place is hard enough as it is. I also know my DS would not be interested in girls at this time of his life. He is only 20 afterall! Besides, he has me
Why yes, the sun is always shining on my unicorn in the backyard. The daily rainbows are lovely too. :spacecraft:

Talking about after they graduate, not while in school.

    Love Will Find a Way

Upon graduation, I do not see the rush to meet the one you must marry right away.

In this new economy it is important that both marriage partners establish some economic independence. Age 27-32 should be the marrying time period they should plan for, in my opinion.

No one should marry in these current times until they have become financially independent and are capable of shrugging off a divorce.

I was talking about after they are done sailing and/or with their military tour, so they would usually be about 27 - 32 yrs. old at that point.

Five years out, they're just like everyone else, and websites already exist. People in the military, or mariners, are similar to other people with time-consuming jobs... in that their jobs consume a great deal of their time.

If I was a female and a guy who graduated half a decade ago approached me with "guess where I went to school..." I would run.

At that point, where they graduated from is moot. Yes, they were on a ship. Yes it kept them away. There are MANY other occupations that lead to the same time-sucks.

On top of all of that, having been in uniform, I would WANT a girl that was looking ONLY for an academy product. No one wants someone to marry their uniform (because eventually those go away, and they aren't "you" anyway).

Somehow mariners have found ladies in the past. I'm sure it will continue into the future. For the female mariners, the odds are HIGHLY in their favor at KP... and if KP is like any other academy, THEY KNOW IT!

Through the years, Kings Pointers have always seemed to be able to find prospective spouses both while at USMMA, during their first five - 8 years ofter graduation while sailing, and especially after one reaches the now seemingly fashionable marrying ages of 28 - 33...

I'd postualte that as much as the "sailing life" slows ones ability to identify and develop ongoing relationships while one sails on their liscences or has the every changing duty stations of a Junior Officer in the military - one also has ample opportunity while on vacation or at a new duty station to meet other vibrant, engaging 20 something members of the gender they seek to "get to know." Additionally it surely doesn't hurt that within 5 years of graduation over 90% of USMMA graduates are apparently in the top 95% of income earners in our nation (this was a statistic that was spouted off to me by a Member of Congress, who I sat next to on a plane back from Frankfurt to Washington Dulles, whiel I was basically taking advantage of the chance meeting to suggest Congress ought to increase funding for USMMA back in 1999.) The Member ended up being on the House Armed Service Committee and a big proponent of the USMMA, but I strongly believe the numbers and stats are still correct and generally applicable today.

Finally, just my own opinion but as has been mentioned there are plenty of on-line tools and far more social networking via online tools then when I was a single grad with 5+ years out of USMMA and my wife and I had no problem finding each other. Furhter, from what I've seen so far since the Class of 2012's graduation my DS and his classmates all have a lot more "game" in this regard then I or my own classmates seemed to have; and in all our cases I can't say we or they did or are soliciting our family 9with the possible exception of a few sisters near in age) help in introducing them to possible candidates...
