Good Morning - I am a high school junior and I will be traveling to Kings Point in the near future for a day visit. Can anyone let me know if this visit usually involves a formal interview. From my discussions with the admission's office it seems that there will be a short group presentation and question and answer session but I am trying to figure out if there will be a one on one interview or any oppurtunity for me to explain my experiences and why I believe I am a good candidate for admission.

Thank you

A visit at this stage (you being a high school junior) is not to sell yourself to the academy, rather it's to sell the academy to you.

As the admissions department is in the middle of choosing the class of 2016, I doubt you're going to get a chance to tell them in any meaningful way why you should be chosen for the class of 2017.

Enjoy the tour.

When DD did a day visit (summer before her Junior year), it was just as you described. There was a group presentation with question and answer session. Then she spent the day with a plebe. There was no interview. I didn't even get a tour of the academy.

Junior Year Interview

Luigi59 and KPMum2012 describe exactly how it was when my DS and I visited for the first time. The only thing I would add is the admissions office might want to know if you are interested in any sports, you might then get a tour guide who participates in that sport. That happened for our DS and he got to meet a couple of the coaches that day. Like KPMum2012, I was on my own so I gave myself a tour and even managed to speak with a couple of engineering professors.
