I know that all cadets get issued a laptop, can they bring their own though?

My recommendation: Don't if you don't want it taken away.

Leave it at home for when you go home. Here, you don't need anything else besides what is already on the computer they issue you.

    It won't really be useful.

As a freshman you cannot have movies, music, or video games. Your laptop may or may not be configured to access the USAFA network (rendering it internet incapable, unless you buy an aircard).

Rumors are swirling around the wing that there will be a secondary Comcast internet connection added sometime this school year due to the current connection slowing to a crawl or going off-line often (especially when upper classes are using the connection on weekends to download movies & media).
