Leave for a Wedding?

Hello everyone,

I have been offered an appointment to West Point for the class of 2020. My sister is getting married on February 11th, 2017. I was wondering if West Point gives leave to Cadets for events like this. If so, is it mandated that I wear a military dress uniform to such an occasion?

Thank you in advance for the advice!

My Yuk is planning to request a pass for his cousin's wedding in April, knowing it may or may not be approved. (Guessing you have to be in good standing in all areas to get one.) He is not planning on wearing his uniform & it's definitely not required.

When on pass you do not have to be in uniform. Request this way in advance. If you are in good standing, there's no reason to anticipate it wouldn't be granted.

It's difficult to say...sometimes Plebes won't find out if they can have the pass until the 11th hour...even if requested far in advance. Also, you could be tasked at the last minute and not be allowed to attend. I would request it, but realize it may not come to fruition.

Our daughter picked her wedding date based on my cadet son's spring break last year. My son was her "best man", so we didn't want to take any chances with passes or last minute delays.
