Leave for a year?

Or they have no idea what a civilian school is like and have doubts since they don't know. I never vilified someone who took that route, and I knew several who did. Most that came back were better for the experience and no longer had doubts. Some didn't come back after realizing they were better where they went. I, myself, have had an awakening being a pseudo-civilian again in grad school. It's a huge change.

So ya, I still say if you want to, go to a civilian college for a year and see if you are missing out or will do better in the civilian world. I'd rather have someone go out and realize that the military is better than they thought (or not) than live every day in doubt.
