Hello everyone! I just received the BFE today with the documents for Police check, body altercations, proof of citizenship request, etc. I plan on legally changing my first name this year (this is my high school senior year, and I am 18) before going to USNA. Should I wait to sign the documents until after my legal name change goes through with the court? Or can I sign the documents now and inform USNA after the change? Thanks!

DS went through this last year. He accepted his appointment in January and did his name change in March. Admissions had said just to let them know/send in legal docs as soon as they were available. They said it was much easier to have it done in advance of PS so that all records once inducted would not need to changed. All paperwork subsequent to submitting the legal docs have reflected the change so it was really no big deal.

Congrats on the BFE!

Thank you for the first-hand advice! I emailed admissions, and they told me the same thing as well. Good luck to your son as finals come up! :)
