My daughter got a letter from admissions today stating that the waiver for her oral allergies has been approved. It goes on to say that "upon graduation you should expect to receive a commission in the unrestricted line as an officer of the Navy."
She has never officially received an appointment, however I know they only seek waivers for competitive candidates.

Have any of you dealt with this process?

Does it sound like she has an appointment?

Certainly sounds encouraging that she may receive an appointment.

As I mentioned on the other thread where you had this same exact post, I think you are reading far more into this than is justified. IMO you need to accept this at face value. I believe their only purpose in adding the sentence you quote is to indicate that she would be allowed to serve in the unrestricted line, as opposed to the restricted line. Many waivers are granted where the officer would only be allowed to serve in the restricted line. I don't think this means anything more than that.

Thank you Kinnem for your second reply. I did read it the first time. I only posted this in both spots as I'm assuming not everyone reads the Dodmerb links.

River3434 thanks for your positivity. We are certainly hoping so. God decides!

My DD received the same letter from DODMERB in February. She took it as a great sign because it was the last piece of her application and the hardest to get through since she received her LOA last October. She had her BFE in hand two weeks later. We don't know where you are in the process, but it seems positive so far. Good luck to you and your family!

    Terrifiedmommy,
Does your DD have an LOA? If not, then getting the waiver doesn't guarantee anything unlike MarchK's DD.

Not that I'm aware of. She got a congressional nomination and her blue and gold office told her that the waiver made her triple qualified. We're not a Service family so this is all very new to us.

She would know if she has an LOA=Letter of Assurance. Basically it says if she is academically/medically/physically qualified with a nomination, she will get an appointment. In MarchK DD's situation, she was waiting on the waiver to be medically qualified. Once she was 3Q, she got her BFE (appointment). Now that your DD is 3Q, you just need to be patient and wait. Good luck to your DD!

Good point! Generally one can hear crickets chirping over on the DoDMERB threads. I do hope her dreams come true! :thumb:
