Got the coveted letter today. Mailed Monday from A-town. 4 days to west Texas.

He sounds great. Said PEP is good, drill is good. :thumb: Wanted gatorade powder, nuts, beef jerky, photos, and news articles.

I had already sent care package number 2 with all the above except news articles. Haven't picked out any to send......we are tired of Michael Jackson stories; we are football fans, but the Steve McNair story is not too uplifting! I will have to peruse the papers some more!

Question: I sent "bodyglide" in the care package. Does anybody know if it can be had anywhere other than athletic type stores? I had never heard ot it until son and I went to Academy to get some for first couple of care packages. I seem to be able to get other supplies at Wal-Mart. Although I have to go north to Amarillo for the Gatorade powder in single serve portions as our small town WM Supercenter does not have it.

I printed a bunch of random photos and include one in my almost daily card/letter. Everything from early childhood to very recent friends.

Interestingly, he said his room is a mess. "But they haven't yelled about it yet!" I shuddered. If he says it is a mess, oh, Lordy, what it might look like. Or maybe his definition of "mess" has changed! :yllol:

Having fun watching the photos on the Thornton Studios website. And the ones on dropshots.com. ANd of course, anxious for that brief conversation come Sunday!

Are you other parents hearing good news?

I made out just fine with the large pouch of gatorade powder. Send it with some ziplocks so that it won't go bad. The mice love nuts so ensure the container is as air tight as can be, or not. It is actually fun to see how many mice you can catch/kill while residing in the hall. 12 in one month was my personal best. Man I miss Bancroft.

We found body glide at Sports Authority. You might also be able to find it at a triathlon or runners store. My guy would use it before putting on his wetsuit for his tri's.

A bit of both actually. Jump school seemed to be the most humane given the 50/50 survival chance. Nuking was funny yet seemed sort of wrong. Of course the old fashioned snap traps saved us the trouble of deciding on some.

Wow, how did the food taste after? I might have gone the trap way personally.
