Hi everyone. I just received my letter of appointment for the Class of 2015 to the United States Naval Academy. I would like to know if anyone received their letters of appointments. So I guess I will start it off!

Best of luck to all candidates. Dont Give up The Ship!

Congratulations! What an honor to receive an appointment so early in the process!

I have also received an appointment.

Since congressional interviews and nomination procedures have not started yet. Where is the nomination from? Not denigrating the appointment (Big Blue Folder) just wondering how the appointment was received so early.

I also had a JROTC nom, in addition to receiving a Presidential one as well

Congratulations to the early appointees - one of the reasons that we strongly encourage candidates to pursue all nominations for which they qualify.

Congratulations

This is just one more example of hard work paying off. When a person especially one such as yourself works hard, anything is possible. Remember, not to let up.

Good luck, God Bless and God Speed,

RGK

Didn't know JROTC, ROTC and Presidential went out so early. Congratulations. That explains it.

Received NAPS Appointment!!

Please help me understand navymidshipman2015 post above. I am trying to understand this whole process. How can you receive a NAPS appointment and be told all is needed for a direct appointment is the nomination? From reading the threads, I thought NAPS appointees needed something improved on their app and that they don't qualify for direct appointments. I am confused. Sorry if this topic had been overworked.

CONGRATULATIONS to all of you who have received such early notification......i know there are MANY Plebes at the Academy right now just waiting for ya'll to take their PLACE !!!!!!!!!!!!

I think what he is trying to get acrossed it that just because he has a NAPS appointment, doesn't mean he is taken out of the direct appointment process. He still has time to improve any academic areas that may be lacking, ie test scores, and as long as he receives a nom, he can still be considered for a direct appointment.

You are correct. It is confusing. Very. Most likely an extremely unique situation for which we do not have all the facts. Normally, borderline files are deferred until the final submission date prior to a decision and, yes, there are usually 500 or so whose academic qualifications preclude both their eligibility for NAPS yet are not good enough for an appointment. Kind of falling in a crack, so to speak.

Re: 2015's NAPS acceptance and pending USNA appointment ...this is an unusual occurance, and speculating, a variation on an LOA to encourage a desirable candidate who may fill a "special need of the Navy" who does not have a traditional LOA profile to go Navy, one way or the other. It likely recognizes the USNA's recognition that this candidate may not have a high total score but is still a desirable candidate.

In any case, it really doesn't matter as kudos and congrats to 2015! Your joy and elation are evident and merited. Truly yours is a dream coming true. Work hard, good luck on the nom, and absent that, do well at NAPS. I trust you will! You're vision, heart, and motivation are readily apparent! GO NAVY!
