Letter to Khizr Khan

These parents were uniquely qualified for this speech, in that they are Muslim, with a child who served and ultimately sacrificed his life for others in service to the US.
Donald Trump has been talking out of his a$$ about deporting all the Muslims and banning them. Imagine being these parents whose son died this way and hearing someone who may be the POTUS, say he wants to deport all Muslims. It's a personal attack on all Peace loving Muslims.

Ditto to that.

Cheers!

Try a Rip Van Winkle. I am close to the Hudson and may go look for those Guys. Drinking, bowling and sleeping can't be all that bad.

In the course of human history there been few times and places I would prefer living in than being in the USA in 2016.

People all over the world bust their ass (hell, lots lose their lives) trying to get to America. Why? The welfare is far better in Canada or Western Europe. Those countries are pretty much as free as the US. But this is still, for all of it's micro-examined shortcomings, the best place to be. An Arab or African might make it to Germany or France or Britain, but they'll be truly accepted as Germans, Frenchmen or British. Make it to American & you'll have to work your butt off, but your son or daughter could be president. Now, more than ever. Nowhere else is this true.

Even at the height of the British Empire, people were leaving England & Scotland for brighter shores. This hasn't happened in the US, ever.

And for those whom always think it was paradise in, say, the 1950s or so, I say to them it wasn't so great back then in reality. Aside from the obvious racism, ethnic prejudice (a ROMAN CATHOLIC run for president? Even if he's a war hero? Never!), sexism, etc. of that era, things weren't always so rosy economically as we recall. The 1958 recession saw unemployment jump 7% higher than in 1957, new cars dropped by 50%, inflation rose, incomes fell, etc.

Only there was no 24-hour news cycle in 1958, no political talk radio & no internet.

The USA is not only a great country today, it is a great country to live in.

And a "good" country to boot! (Russia & China can lay claim to some "greatness" due to their size, but does the world view them as "good"?)

Drinking & bowling are still pretty fun though.

I'd vote for satan

Sorry, Satan's already been defeated. Little Christian humor from a God-fearing family!

On another note, heard the interview on NPR with Mr. Khan this week. Sorry if this was discussed elsewhere in this post. The interview brought tears to my eyes...he told the story about how he came to carry the copy of the constitution in his pocket among other details. Reminded me that I need to step up my game as well...

here's the link to the article and the 30 min story on "All Things Considered":
