I would like to understand the letter of recommendation process better.

As I understand it, we notify our math, science, and english teachers that they will receive School Official Evaluation (SOE) forms in september.

Do we have to do anything else, like mail in written letters similar to how the common app works? What exactly is on a SOE?

The SOE is an evaluation. Certain characteristics are listed, example:
Is the student a leader in the classroom? 12345
and the teacher will circle a number - 1 being weak and 5 being strong.
It's very quantitative.
There will also be space for the teacher to add some written comments.
Don't worry too much about it. This is between your teachers and admissions - not much you have direct control over. It is a small part of the admissions process.
You may add additional material to your application later but it's not necessary at all. You should probably contact your Regional Commander before sending in extra letters.

What happens if your teacher isnt coming back to your school next year?

oh btw, hello everyone.
