I am sifting through son's paperwork. Boy is he gonna have fun filling it all out.
Question on the life insurance for current cadets or their parents...did any of you decline the coverage? If so, why? And, what cost is there to the cadets for the 400k policy? I couldn't find anything on cost in the packet of forms. Right now, with no liabilities or family to support, does he really need this coverage?

Thanks in advance for the input!

you can call admissions and get clarify but i think that if you fully decline now its harder to resume the coverage later. i think most people here just choose the smallest amount, i think its 50K or something

SGLI can be picked up at anytime during active duty without a hassle.

It's up to each cadet and their family to determine whether life insurance is a good thing at this time. Some families already have small policies on their children to cover the immediate expenses of an unexpected death.
