LOA - Reapplicant

My DS made it all the way to the waitlist for the class of 2018 and is reapplying to the class of 2019. Do college reapplicants still have a shot at recieving an LOA?

I suppose theoretically they do. However, USNA won't even review their application until 1st semester college grades are in. This timing is pretty close to the date when MOC noms are due (Jan. 31). So it becomes somewhat of a moot point.

Your son's situation is very very rare. Only the top USNA applicants receive an LOA.

If he was waitlisted after receiving an LOA, then then the issue preventing him from attending USNA was most likely the nomination. Your son's situation is very rare.

Keep in mind that he can apply for a nomination from his home or from the college he attends, if that is in another state or congressional district.
