LOE Overnight Visit

I'm going down tomorrow for my overnight. Planning on khaki's and a blue button up (casual, half-sleeved). Is that appropriate? Any last minute tips? Please and thank you!

Dress recommendation for DD

I went in November. First you sit through an admissions briefing, then your cadet will come pick you up. From then on, your pretty much do what your cadet is doing. Go to their classes, their extracurricular activities. You do everything with either your cadet or one of their buddies. I got to go to an extra class or two by going to my cadet's roommate's classes with her, and I got to go to two different club sports practices that way too.
Advice, wear khaki's and a polo shirt or nicer, bring athletic clothing and sneakers in case you get to do a sport, take whatever opportunities you are offered, and ask lots of questions. I had a blast.

Do you recommend khakis and a polo for both DS and DD? What do you consider to be "nicer" for DD? Tailored, tucked in buttoned shirt perhaps? Tailored shirt not tucked in?

It's worth getting fitted there even if they don't have what you want. Get the size and order via AAFES.

.

Went to the AAFES website. See below. I called AAFES and they actually checked a list for my DS name when I asked if Appointed Cadets are eligible to purchase. They said his name was not on the list so they told me I can fax in his "CAP id number" and wait 3-5 business days. I asked what CAP stands for and the rep didn't know. Hope it is the same as Candidate ID. I assume there is a time lag in how often West Point updates AAFES with Cadets who have accepted appointment.

Does anyone know how much of a savings is typical for AAFES?

thanks

May be a bit early for the list, but they will have it for all candidates. Normally the boot letter has a specific number at AAFES to call, and those people have the list. You should also be able to just fax the letter to them. That is all that is needed at bases to get in and to buy from AAFES.

for our 2015 cadet it was $25 savings over local street price at surplus stores for the specified Bates low quarters, more than that for boots. Ranger Ricks and similar was also much higher.

If mail ordering I would go with AAFES as they are more liberal on returns for size, etc. You can return at any AAFES location.

AAFES will be the same price online as at local bases. Cadet store is normally the same.

Thanks for the info - I assumed AAFES was discount over Cadet store so he can just do that.

Cadet Store is probably the best at fitting.

If they have his size & selection it's a great option. If you are that size 12B or 7EEE extreme they may not have your stock and your best bet is to get fitted and order. They may not have all the boot letter options in stock.
