Since I am reapplying to USNA, my local MOC's rep told me that I will need only 1 letter of recommendation for my nomination package this time, as opposed to the standard 3. She said the LOR had to be from a college professor. The thing is, I've been a college freshman for only just under a month. I feel really weird asking a teacher I hardly know to write me a LOR that needs to be received via mail by October 3rd (nom deadline).

Should I call or email my MOC rep and ask if another source is possible? For example, using the same letter that someone is writing for my Senator nomination package? Not sure what to do

Attend office hours religiously! First meeting, tell them you are reapplying to USNA and your goal is to serve and commission as an officer in USMC/USN. Get to know them, be friendly and polite. Ask them if they would be willing to write a letter for you. They will say yes. Give them a deadline and pick it up in person.

If you've already talked to the MOC representative and he/she told you to send from the prof, then I'd go with that.

If you didn't have the conversation, then it makes sense to ask whether, given your circumstances, you might substitute a senior teacher in h.s.

When my MOC representative sent me the nomination packet in March, it had a handwritten note that (among other requirements) said "One letter of rec from a college professor"

I think she wants that because it could show growth at a college level. It just feels really awkward asking a teach that probably doesn't even know my name for a letter of rec. Packet is due by mail October 1st. Do you think if I called or emailed her (this late) that it would look bad on my part to ask for a HS teacher instead? 2 HS teachers already wrote me one for the Senators nom package. I could duplicate.
