    I was bummed to hear that CC is cutting down on the amount of cadets they are taking to LTC this summer. It sounds like a lot of fun and I was already getting excited for it. My school's BN usually sends 10+ cadets but we were informed today that we were only slotted ONE cadet to send to LTC. Sucks...

    Why did I think LTC was a mandatory part of the ROTC, and is used in scoring/deciding what branch you choose?

    The mandatory camp is called LDAC and all AROTC cadets are supposed to take it the summer before their senior year. Your score there does count toward your OML score for branch selection.

    LTC is for cadets who started after their freshman/sophomore years and need to catch up on what they missed in training during that time. However, if it is not available, I believe there are other ways to catch up on the basic training.

    Trev...what brigade are you in?? I haven't heard any guidance on LTC slots yet. I'm sure, as they did last year, they will carefully scrutinize who goes. A cadet who has been enrolled the previous 2 year shouldn't be going to LTC, and neither should a scholarship winner. It's a fun camp, but it is for cadets who have no ROTC experience, and are entering their Junior year. Interesting topic for this discussion board.

    @ClarksonArmy 4th Brigade.

    I am just getting started in ROTC this semester so by the time summer comes I won't have much experience. LTC looks like a REALLY good time but also a really good learning experience for new cadets. I also think it helps a new cadet realize if the Army is what they really want as opposed to only one semester of ROTC. Fingers crossed that I go...
