Maersk Alabama Hijacked by Pirates

" Why do I get the terrible feeling this administration is: "Carter- Part Deux"."

I don't know. Had an aircrew man been able to have a little better presence as to where he placed his flight jacket, we may be looking at President Carter under a whole different light now.

Gametime is coming!

It is a waiting game now. We wait and contain the perimeter. We deny them
access to their support, we continue to negotiate, as we prepare our tactical option. We work to get this guy back to his family. That is our first goal. After
that, well, everybody knows what can happen.
As for me I would send "incoming reminders" to every port on the Somali coast.
This way they will understand, but what we do unfortunately could impact the other 200 people these guys have hostage. If that is an accurate report from the media, where are those countries? Why aren't they involved.

OK, I'll bite. What's the story here?

Haha, not likely. Unfortunately for Carter, that wasn't his only fault.

I hadn't seen your investment advice Wilbur, i apologize, I must have skipped right over it.

As for the pirates.....

They are in a covered life boat 200 NM out at sea, with a shrinking food and water supply, no fuel, two U.S. warships nearby and little to know hope. Sure, they can demand $2 mil, but I don't see that happening. They've got to be scared, and I would love to be a fly on the wall of that lifeboat and hear those conversations.

Wow, FOX reports that the captain has been freed in some type of military operation, 3 of the pirates were killed, the captain is fine.

"OK, I'll bite. What's the story here?"

The Iran hostage rescue attempt. One of the choppers had to turn back due to overheated electronics because a flight jacket was clogging an air intake. This caused a lack of sufficient aircraft to continue the mission and perhaps the decision to abort caused the catastrophe at Desert 1.

My investment advice was and is to hire a professional. There are many inputs to determine investment strategy; age, income, goals, etc. but the most important is risk tolerance. This is where a professional earns his keep, to help one determine their specific risk tolerance, to fine tune it over time, and to select an ongoing investment strategy which will allow them to be as aggressive as thery are comfortable, given the particular climate at the time.

Go Seals! Apparently this was a Navy Seal operation and 3 pirates were killed and one is in custody. The Captain is rescued and unhurt.

Well Done!

Nice JOB SEALS!!!

See when I said negotiate, I meant talk.....but if they want to kill them, haha, give me the SEALS!

Outstanding job Navy!

So you signed on to say "hire a professional"?

I am impressed. I didn't think the administration had the fortitude to press forward, and allow the SEALS to do their job.

To the Pirates message sent "Attack a US Flag Vessel and Die".

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. The Pirates just like their friends on shore respect only one thing Power and fear only one thing Death. They may test our resolve again but if the message stays firm they will look for other targets fast.

Congradulations to the President, Admin, Navy, and especially the SEALS!

Kind of suprised it took this long for the seals to get the green light. This is kinda their job, and you know they were just waiting.

I'm watching the press conference right now, the Vice Admiral answering the questions said that they felt the captains life was "in imminent danger" and that's when the SEALS got the greenlight. Otherwise, the negotiations might have continued.

Thank God he was rescued.. we really needed a bit of good news.

I've been gone at Orientation for the AFA, but I must say...

I TOLD YOU SO!!!

SEALS are BAMFs.

Two pitching boats, 3 bullets, 3 kills.

This is dated but for the record, there are 14 holes in that lifeboat, that's likely at least 7 bullets, and I've never heard how many bullets were in each of the three priates. That said, I suspect that 99% of the bullets fired ended up in those three pirates and I have no issue with making sure the kills were successful.

'Sadistic' pirate gets three decades in jail

Abdiwali Abdiqadir Muse was one of four pirates who attacked the Maersk Alabama cargo ship off Somalia's coast in April 2009.

They escaped with the ship's American captain and a three-day stand-off took place until US Navy sharpshooters killed the other three pirates as they tried to escape on a lifeboat with the ship's captain.

Muse was the only survivor.

Federal Judge Loretta Preska in New York said the sentence of 33 years, nine months would serve as "general deterrence in this kind of crime".

Prosecutors and the judge described Muse as a hardened pirate leader who displayed a cruel streak when he pretended to shoot the cargo ship's American captain.

Prosecutors said he was sadistic, and took pleasure from his hostages' suffering, subjecting them to mock executions.

Wow, when I saw this topic, the first thought that came to mind was "Again!?!" haha

Anyway, glad to see a decision came in this case - I was looking more at life though.
