For those of you who accepted your Naval Academy Appointment, did you just send it back in the envelope provided or did you mail it certified or with return receipt?

I sent it back in the envelope provided and also added an envelop with my name and address on it for them to send my birth certificate back in since I sent in my original copy. I also had the Police Dept. send their sheet in the other envelope provided. Hope this helps!

We sent it in the envelope provided. He also provided the self address envelope for the return of Birth Certificate. That was returned several weeks later in a plain envelope with no other information.

It does seem strange with over a year of sending in information and acknowledgments for each that suddenly the entire system goes dark and the only information you have is what is on dodmerb.

He did contact the RD and got a response which said it is indicated on CIS, that acceptance recv'd, which we all know is just not the case.

Rather than bug them we just decided to wait.

So I guess we will wait until April and hope the paperwork is in order.

Son sent acceptance letter (made a copy!) via fedex overnight. That was for my piece of mind, not his. I can track and see who signed for it. Also included self addressed stamped envelope for birth certificate.

Haven't done police record check yet...saving for spring break.

For those who have sent back the acceptance papers, how long until permit to report arrives?

From what I gather from this site, all permit to report packages go out in April. I sent my acceptance in about a month ago and still haven't recieved the package so I'm assuming April must be right.

Thanks everyone for your responses- singaporemom, fedex overnight will be the way it goes. I don't have the best of faith in our postal system!

DS sent his in USPS Return Receipt Required. We now have a delivery receipt signed in our files.

Permit to Report

We sent regular mail. Then after realizing the CIS didn't update we sent an email to our admissions contact. They indicated they did receive our acceptance and that we would receive permit to report late April or May.

we sent regular mail too, then had a brief panic too when realizing nothing showed up on CIS, but thankfully DODMERB showed "offer accepted" about 2 wks after we sent it in.phew.
My advice, send it with either tracking or return recpt!

Just wanted to add that even though I did send it in the regular mail, I did get my birth certificate back quickly with a piece of paper saying they recieved the birth certifficate. I also got an email from my regional director congratulating me on accepting my appointment.
