I am an MSII cadet in AROTC. I have a "headquarters funded" 3AD scholarship. I am supposed to contract this semester (should have already, my school was delayed in getting things done for various reasons), and was going to contract last week. However, I had switched my major. According to my contract, my cadre have to send up the change to High Command for approval because it is a headquarters funded scholarship.

I'm currently freaking out because I was told that 1. They don't have to approve it 2. If they don't, I lose my scholarship 3. It is delaying my contracting and benefits and 4. Our contracting ceremony at our homecoming football game is coming up (about a month).

Has anyone ever been in this situation before, and if so, what is the likelihood that I will get out of this okay, and how long does this process normally take? Any advice? The request was sent up on Monday.

    Some important things to note:

    - It is a "Headquarters Funded" 3AD scholarship, not a Brigade scholarship
    - I received the scholarship coming out of High School
    - My scholarship offer was an "open contract", there was no designated major on my contract, and AROTC did not ask for one at the time it was received. From what I understand, I don't have to stay in engineering to maintain the scholarship. However, CCIMS has my major inputted as engineering, I believe cadre sent it up last year when I was filling out paperwork
    - I was coming in as an Engineer, and I switched into Economics (for various reasons explained on my transfer request)
    - My PMS approves of the transfer

    Thanks

You're allowed one major change with approval at the battalion level. Anything otherwise must go up to brigade, unless something changed this FY.

The problem is that in my contract it states that all changes must be forwarded to "Headquarters" due to the "Headquarters funded" scholarship, at least according to cadre interpretation, which it looks like to me as well.

Your cadre are mistaken. First major change is approved at Battalion level.

Clarkson, does that include if the switch is from one ADM to a lower ADM. Such as engineering to business?
