I am an MSII cadet in AROTC. I have a "headquarters funded" 3AD scholarship. I am supposed to contract this semester (should have already, my school was delayed in getting things done for various reasons), and was going to contract last week. However, I had switched my major. According to my contract, my cadre have to send up the change to High Command for approval because it is a headquarters funded scholarship.
I'm currently freaking out because I was told that 1. They don't have to approve it 2. If they don't, I lose my scholarship 3. It is delaying my contracting and benefits and 4. Our contracting ceremony at our homecoming football game is coming up (about a month).
Has anyone ever been in this situation before, and if so, what is the likelihood that I will get out of this okay, and how long does this process normally take? Any advice? The request was sent up on Monday.
Some important things to note:
- It is a "Headquarters Funded" 3AD scholarship, not a Brigade scholarship
- I received the scholarship coming out of High School
- My scholarship offer was an "open contract", there was no designated major on my contract, and AROTC did not ask for one at the time it was received. From what I understand, I don't have to stay in engineering to maintain the scholarship. However, CCIMS has my major inputted as engineering, I believe cadre sent it up last year when I was filling out paperwork
- I was coming in as an Engineer, and I switched into Economics (for various reasons explained on my transfer request)
- My PMS approves of the transfer
Thanks
