March 8th, 2011 AROTC Board

The website says this
6. When and how will I be notified if I have been offered a scholarship?

If offered an Air Force ROTC scholarship, you will be notified in writing after the scholarship selection boards meet.

Board results are scheduled to be released on or around the following dates:

* Dec 27 2010
* Feb 14 2011
* Mar 14 2011
* Apr 18 2011
so not the 11th the 14th?

Skates without socks
Can grow a really nice beard
Bench Squats 450
Loves to wear a suit and tie
Hits a one hand backhand
Loves Model UN

ah, I know, drives too fast :wink:

Lets see...got right handed, wears 10.5(close enough?) doesn't skate at all, grows a great beard(Noshave November anyone?) don't know what he lifts, LOVEs the suit and tie, would like Model UN if it was around here and ABSOLUTELY LOVES TO DRIVE TOO FAST...2 wrecks down, drives a beater 95 Chevy Blazer from Craig's list w/ 250,000mi on it....so maybe they all do have a few things in common besides the DodMERB approval prior to being offered anything:biggrin:

That's it!

Also drives a car with 255,000 while looking like Hugh Jackman from the Wolverine.

I received a scholarship offer dated March 1st (if I remember the date correctly) to Rutgers. I declined and faxed it in yesterday. Best of luck to all of you still waiting!

Good luck to all the impressive motivated young adults this time around! Here's hoping good things will come to those wait! Fingers crossed for all of you

Checking in... we are here and waiting patiently (HA!) with the rest of you. Let's hope this board is smoother and more expedient than the last!
Actually, whatever the outcome, SAF has been a great wealth of information and support.
Let's see... Left handed, size 11, don't know what he benches, but spends time at the gym daily, loves his JRTOC uniform (cadet ball is Friday), just traded his 93 Honda w/VTEC for a 95 Dakota truck (he thought it would be a better college vehicle - can carry army gear in the back!), totally Army and ROTC focused, regardless of scholarship offer. :rolleyes:

Impatiently waiting. Sitll check the status daily, although I know what it will say.

Lets see he is 5'8", 130#, 9.5 shoe, right handed, drives a 2009 Jeep, and drives way too fast...

Sounds like the majority of us will be waiting also.
Let's see. size 12, not a jock, but a precision rifle shooter, Mil Ball this weekend and they look so sharp in the uniforms! left handed and drives a well used, and well loved 2002 VW Wagon!
6'0" 175 #. And yes, will do ROTC with or without the scholarship! He is committed!

Have to get them DoDmerb qualified before they kill themselves :shake:

Just checking in....I'm glad someone started the March thread. We are still waiting also. DS has been DoDERB qualified since the first of January. He checked in with the ROO at one of his choice schools on Friday and was told of their 50 AROTC scholarships allotted they have only been awarded 7. So there is still hope out there. DS has also decided this is want he wants to do with or without a scholarship.

Ht 5'10" WT 200 shoe size 10.5 ex football player...works out everyday....last time I asked BP 395. Drives a 2000 F250 pick up. Does not drive fast because he discovered it uses much more gas if he does. He has to buy his own gas.

5'11", 163lbs, size 14 shoe, listens to music I can't stand, Plays baseball, but not a jock either. Does not have his own car, lost a teammate in a crash last semester:frown:, so he actually pokes. Loves the stage..Music/Drama, should be a stand up comedian. He sees humor in everything. And I check the status too ProudCitadelDad. I don't even know why. Its a sickness:biggrin:

We should start group therapy for compulsive checking. :shake:

God love ya, VMI OOS was not a small number. We never went to visit, but DS has some adults he knows who are alumni and really pushed him to consider it. Hope financial aid works some miracles for you if the scholarhips don't come thru.

Wish my DS was that set on anything -- the more questions we ask the more questions he fires back. He's now questioning his entire life plan, good thing we can hang out a little longer anyway.:biggrin: With his ability to argue from all sides, I'm telling him law would be a good area:wink:

We already got their financial package and they did offer him a scholarship..about 35% of his total cost is covered by them. Its not cheap, but considering the total bill their offer is still a big help. If he had gone to Penn State main Campus(In state) the cost difference would not have been that much different actually when we figure in the scholarship VMI gave him.
DS checked it out on line first and then we did a drive by of the campus admissions officee on our way back from Charlotte 2 years ago. Everyone we talked to was so kind and helpful there. It was the first place he looked at and then did an over night and an additional week last summer at a chemistry camp.(totally sold out to it) He is also a year older than most of his classmates and I think that extra year has enabled him to be more focused on what he wants. Most of his friends are older and already in college so he has their experiences to draw from as well. I just don't have it in me to say no when there are ways to help him get it done. He has never asked us for much growing up and I never have "spoiled" him. So if I work OT for a few years rather than retirement its no big deal. He understands and appreciates what we are doing...then again if he quits..we will kill him:yllol:

So glad VMI extended some scholarship help. I'd heard they were very helpful, DS's adult friends were willing to write letters and all that...and yes, working a little longer(OT when available)is in the cards anymore for all colleges now adays. After all your encouraging posts, glad to hear it is all working out for you and yours.
