March 8th, 2011 AROTC Board

Good post!!

Wait, what? You mean the March 8 Board doesn't let you know on March 8??? :welcome1: to this reality!

However, I have it on good authority that if you check the online status 7 times per day for 21 days, while throwing salt over your LEFT shoulder, while hopping on one foot, and simultaneously shouting "I am not worthy!", the answer will appear on the 22nd day. I also have it on good authority that if you press the elevator button repeatedly, the car arrives faster.

dunninla, you made my day. Lots of ugly going on in Ohioland this week, not related to AROTC, but wow, I really needed a good laugh and you get the award for it today. I really do think you guys are the greatest!:thumb:

That is great to hear about your son. My son is on the same path, regardless if he gets a 4year scholarship. We live in California, he plans on going to The King's College in NYC. We are anxiously waiting to hear if he has received 4 year schshp. If not, he will try for the on -campus award. Either way, he is still committed to doing AROTC. Good Luck to you and your family:) It's nice to hear other kids on the same page.

DS has made his decision too..if he gets a scholarship great, but we are sending in the student loan paperwork anyway to his first pick. He received some academic scholarships that help but it won't be cheap. Either way his heart is to serve. We all are very fortunate that we have kids who choose to serve rather than party. We win and they will too in the end:thumb:

Sounds like our story:) this forum is great to read about other families going through the same thing. We are very proud, and is very much willing to serve no matter what. Thanks for sharing

These are the times that try men's souls. And us Mom's too. Yes waiting is my pastime this year. I used to have a life. I don't know what happened to it, but its gone. I sit on SAF learning more and more and where is the one this all pertains to? Baseball practice..with friends..having a great time being a Senior. And yes..I wouldn't change a thing. Except maybe the length of the WAIT:biggrin:

:smile:love your post:) Too bad us parents don't all live close by to commisserate with eachother, good thing for these forums. This is the next best thing. We probably wouldn't even have the time to hang out. GOod luck to all of you

 Oh, the things I have to look forward to in a couple of years, as I'm just getting my feet wet, learning from all of you about this process and how it works! Since DS already consumes my life as it is, the fact that I'll have no life waiting for scholarship decisions shouldn't be a big deal! There's part of me that's really getting ready for him to be able to drive!! In the meantime, I'm empathizing with all of you, reading about your DS's and DD's, and learning what it takes to get through this process! Good luck to all, and God Bless!

I hope your biggest take away from following this process is 1.)nothing stays the same, Army makes and changes the rules frequently 2.)back up plans are critical, B,C,D,E...3.)SAF is the best place to hang out and pass the time:smile: Thank you for the good wishes - welcome to SAF/March board

So does this mean that if you received a scholarship from the Jan. board you would already know? Last time I checked in with a Captain at my 1st choice school he said they still didn't have the results but would let me know when they did (Feb. 10). After the first board he did let me know that I had not received one :frown:. I really hate waiting, I've been board ready since July !

@ whsoccerjc21 - From what I understand, notifications from the January board have been made so your ROO should know whether you were selected...or rolled over to the March 8th board...and yes, waiting is very tiring...

The letters went out to the awardees March 1st. If you did not receive a letter that says you have been offered a scholarship then you have been rolled over to the final board. The final board started meeting yesterday Mar. 8th. Notification from this board will be at least 3 weeks from now, looking back at the Jan. 4th board and how long it took for the offers to be made, it may very well be longer then 3 weeks.

I would keep in touch with the ROTC batallions at the shools you listed. The last board did not give applicants very many choices, many received the offer to just one school and not always their #1 choice, so make sure you keep in contact with all the schools on your list.

I have a feeling the March results will be released a lot quicker. No way they can afford to leave it until mid-late April and only offer one school. What they did at the last board is already causing chaos with transfers.

I can see a situation where a lot of 4-year scholarships get handed over to the PMS/ROO's this fall.

March 8 board

Does anyone know when the March board will be over officially. It is the last AROTC board this year right?

Last year's 2579 scholarships averaged about $18K per student - it's too bad they couldn't use a dollar amount to control costs and still give the students greater flexibility for choosing schools and eliminate some of the administrative headaches.

Does anyone know when the AROTC results from the March board will be available?

Last Board

Does anyone know when the AROTC results from the March board will be available?

Yes it's the last scheduled board. I doubt anyone on the planet knows when the results will be available. The results after the first board were announced after about 3 weeks, the second board about 7 weeks. Many of this forum believe those in control realize a majority of schools have deposit deadlines looming and won't delay another 7 weeks - time will tell.

Thank You

I completed and submitted my AROTC package in late November and so far I haven't received any confirmation or any sort of disclosure for my scholarship application. A lot of people have been posting some of their stats on these threads and letting people determine their chances so here are some of my stats. 5'9" 165 pounds for my PFT I did the 1 1 1 push ups= 47 sit ups=56 mile run=6:35
My GPA is a 3.1 (unweighted) I wrestled varsity for 3yrs at a 6a school. I played JV baseball. Some of the classes I am enrolled in are AP Physics AP Statistics and Calculus plus the required senior classes. My SAT was a bit low a 1510combined a 1050reading/math I thought I was a competitive candidate for this scholarship but now i'm not sure. I have already been accepted to Oregon State's Pre-Civil Engineering program.. these are some of my stats please comment and be truthful
Thank you God bless:smile:
