Matt,

Congrats on completing your packet so early. However, the boards for this year are only for those applying to enter college this fall. You're going to have to wait unitl the first board for FY11. :thumb:

But I am sure you will do well based on what you posted. Hope you consider the SA as well.

I would make sure that you can apply this early, because I thought that the application doesn't open up until June-ish.

I'm a junior in high school and I've already applied as well. It opened up in early February. They won't even start looking at the Prospective Class of 2015 apps until the fall. I was told by the Army ROTC person at Texas A&M to apply as early as possible to make sure you will be looked at by every board that meets. I'm not going to submit transcripts until the end of Junior year anyway. Best of luck to 2014 Prospects.

In that case, congrats.
Hopefully you will only need the first board! It's a great feeling.

Best wishes to everyone who's still waiting to hear from the March review board! :thumb:

How Selected for Board Review?

I'm still not clear how the applications are processed. Are they screened before the commencement of an upcoming board, i.e., only select applications are reviewed? Or, does an application get reviewed at each board (unless of course a scholarship is awarded)? Thanks.

Each application is given a score when it is first reviewed upon completion of all components. It is then put in order with all other applications being reviewed at each board in an OML (Order of Merit List) from highest to lowest score. Scholarships are awarded top down until all scholarship allotments for that board are used up. The remaining applications are automatically rolled over to the next board, where it is once again put in an OML with any new applications being added in. Your place in the OML can go up, down or stay the same relative to the other applications being considered.

Once an application has been scored, that number remains the same except in a few cases where new information comes in that would change the score (ie. higher SAT/ACT scores).

Yea i know Aye!!!

Hey everyone,
I'm a high school senior, going to graduate in June, class of 2010.
Well anyways, I applied for the 4 year nursing scholarship. I didn't get an offer for the January board, but the LTC. at my jrotc called the MAJ. at my first choice school, story is that the MAJ. called cadet command and requested me by name, does that impact my chances? and if so how much?

It definitely can't hurt. Also, if you're not aware, nurse scholarships also have their own allotment that they can go after if they aren't offered a "regular" ROTC scholarship. We knew nothing about that until the PMS from from school #2 told us that they wanted our daughter and would go that route if necessary. I then inquired about it with our #1 school and he confirmed it as well.

Bottom line, if they want you, the odds are better that they can get you for a nursing scholarship if necessary. Good luck!!

Yea, he PMS also said that if i dont get it from CC that the school would give me one. But does it cover the same as the ones from CC?
