March-how important?

appointment offers or appointment packages?

Objee,

By appointments do you mean offers of appointment for people who applied under regular admissions? Or do you mean the official appointment packages for people who have already accepted the appointment?

Thanks

As of yesterday, we have offered 249 appointments...47 Accepts and 6 Declines so far.

The first group of CGAS appointments has been approved by CAPT Bibeau, but I don't think they're in the mail yet...maybe next week?

I am fairly new to this forum, so am curious what your connection to the CGA is...do you think that the first round tends to be those who were deferred or sent in apps on the early side? In other words, is it "rolling admission" in that sense? The relatively low number of "accepts" surprises me if these are folks who wanted badly enough to go here that they applied EA--does this hold out more hope to a larger group of appmts offered this spring?? Probably wishful thinking, huh?

MOM2 - I had the same reaction when I read only 47

"accepts" so far.

My goodness, my son would be all over an offer like "white on rice" as we say down here.

He would float, fly, or beam himself directly to the U.S. Post Office to return whatever needed to secure his place in the Class of 2013 at the Academy!

Good grief, how could so many be on the fence still?

Oh, well, if they're holding out for something else (note, I didn't say something "better"), that just means more room for our darlings, doesn't it?

Blessings to all!

LOL... silly boy.... you know what I meant.. NEW LONDON,CT

although she did get an admissions pacakge from UCONN :shake:
(all of the hubby's family is in New England, so he would love for her to be in New England)

Oh! I'm sorry, you mean Connecticut College. My mistake.

Well... it will soon be 48 accepts. I have always known that I would go to CGA..however, attending a boarding school makes it difficult to get all the proper paperwork to mail in..so I am just waiting until spring break. Maybe there are a few more kids out there like me who are just waiting to get the birth certificate and SS.

Ah, a reasonable explanation. Congratulations! Thank you

for being willing to serve your country!

I believe the 249 appointments includes EA and RA.

My son is in the same mindset! We told him he might want to wait a day or so to let everything settle in, should he get the appt. His answer....NO WAY!

ohhhh, really? I didn't think Regular Action appointments had been given out yet.

I was thinking that the 249 were for Early Action only and that the Regular Action and CGA Scholars were yet to come... any day now.

Objee?

Objee?

As of 12/18 there were 235 Appointments given... SINCE they are not sending anymore out yet.. I was figuring the extra 14 got snuck in... until between NOW and 4/15

235 appointments were offered under EA
14 appointments have been offered under RA

47 appointments have been accepted...they're probably all from EA, but I'm not 100% sure.

6 appointments have been declined...they're all from EA.

Larry Mullen: DoDMERB

(Younger and Better Looking) Objee: USCGA

Our acceptance rate is actually a little higher than normal for the first week in March...the Class(es) of 2012/11/10 each had less than 40 Accepts at this point in 2008/07/06. Our EA is completely non-binding, so all appointees (whether EA or RA) have until May 1st to accept or decline.

The Story of Objee

By 1926, the bear had been the Academy's mascot for sometime in honor of the Cutter Bear, which had served in the Arctic Zone for years.

However, it was during this year that a Cadet by the name of Steven Evans (who ironically would later become the Superintendent of the USCGA) returned from leave with a live bear cub. He somehow talked the Superintendent, Captain Hinckley, into allowing the bear to stay at the Academy. The bear was named Objee, which was short for "objectionable presence."

He had many homes throughout his tenure at the Academy, but the one he spent the most time in (and his last home) was the old Academy observatory next to Billard Hall. Although he did not sleep in Chase Hall, Objee was often brought into the barracks and turned loose. He showered in the cadet showers, and was even allowed to eat in the wardroom from time to time. Cadet Objee was particularly fond of visiting cadets during study hour.

Unfortunately, the Corps was stripped of its right to keep a live bear in 1984 due to the "objectionable presence" posed by the bear on the surrounding community and new animal quarantine laws.

The 'last live Objee' died at Widmark Farms in New York on Nov 21, 2007.

Do you think you guys could get those mailed sooner ????:biggrin::biggrin: I have a few boxes of Girl Scout Cookies I could send ... ... whatever to help the cause of all of us mail carrier stalkers...:biggrin: :thumb: :thumb::biggrin:

many may be holding out on replying so that they can wait on other service academies... even if it is just to keep their options open like me... whats better than one service academy but two??

There are also alot of people who had medical issues and were only offfered conditional appointments until they cleared everything up and recieved a full appointment

Hmmmm

It's hard for us parents of kids who are still waiting to hear things like this. I'm not implying that you are doing anything wrong, and by all means you should "keep your options open" if you have not yet fully and completely decided. I know in our home there was only one clear winner. No other offer (SA or otherwise) would have caused him to wait. Congratulations that you have more than one offer. :thumb: Good luck.

Good ole Objee. Always a good story. Obvious the Objee that frequents the website is not a bear. It's probably obvious Objee has some connection to Admissions. :thumb:

14 apptmnts offered?

So only 14 of us should really be looking for the big envelope?
