I am hoping to be able to audition for the Air Force Academy Marching band. However, I am unable to locate information on what I need for audition materials. Can anybody provide me with contact info for how I can find out, the information I am asking about, or where I can look to get the contact info. I have already checked the admissions website and the home page to no avail.
Thanks.

Are you talking about the cadet Drum and Bugle Corps? Because the Air Force Academy band is a very good band of Enlisted personnel that play for some Academy functions. The cadet Drum & Bugle Corps has auditions sometime during August i think, and they'll send out an email with everything that you should need to know once you're out of BCT. Anybody here in D&B?

There's no actual marching band, just a Drum & Bugle. When you receive your appointment information, there should be info on where to send an audition tape. That said, pretty much anyone who auditions makes it into the Corps in some extent (barring discipline problems or academic probation or things like that) - you may need to switch instruments (especially if you don't play a D or B instrument!) or play a popular one like trumpet. I do strongly recommend it - my son has loved his first two years so far in D&B! Great travel, lots of fun.

There is a D&B Facebook Group which is an open group (Air Force Drum and Bugle) so you could see a lot of the pics there and get some general information. Tryouts are usually sometime the first weekend after Beast. If you have any specific questions, I'll be glad to answer what I can or pm me and I can give you my son's contact info. Good luck!
