Are there any specific rules on how we can mark their clothes for ownership? I am referring to the clothes that they will bring on I-Day. We would like to mark them ahead of time. Any ideas? Thanks to all!

GO NAVY!

I did this last year ... waste of time. First, their civilian clothes are packed into their own bag and taken away. Clothes they acquire (the MANY uniforms etc) when dirty go to the laundry in one big bag ... and come back in the same bag. My now youngster son says they boil the clothes then bake them dry. Don't know about that ... but sounds accurate. He actually does his own laundry know because everything is a mess and requires much ironing when sent to the USNA laundry (during the year he also gets uniforms dry cleaned) ... SOOOO yes, write his name in stuff, but don't sweat it ... they don't mix their clothes ...

If things remain the same, you mark your clothes with your "Alpha code." Again, unless things have changed, you don't get that until I-Day. The first two numbers are your class year (e.g., 85 for me). The remaining 4 are based on your last name, alphabetically (mine were 5292). You NEVER, EVER forget your alpha code.

Plebes will be provided with a permanent marker with which to mark all of their items. Doing so is important if, as they did in my day, the 1/C dump everyone's clothes into a single pile and let you figure out which stuff is yours. No need to do it in advance as there's no need to mark your civvies.

Also laundry pins do break and if your clothes are not marked you don't get them back
