Hockeymom,
Sorry - guess I did not recognize your nickname...no need to share your real name on this open format - I am sorry if we have shared email before and did not realize who you were.
Yes, please do contact Kim/Delahunt's office. If you have her email address - I'd recommend using that first.
If she knows anything - she will share with you. If she doesn't - she will tell you.
You may also have already talked with your child's B&G officer to see if they have any info to share with you.
The Service Academies will do their first selection - looking to try to be representative of all facets of diversity - geographic, gender, race/ethnicity in offering appointments. They will also review any nominees with particular key items - such as recruited athletes.
Once they sort out that first appointment review...the Service Academies will then go an find the most qualified nominees nation-wide...and that is where the 10th Congressional district wins - and I lose.
There have been several years where multiple 10th district nominees have been offered service academy appointments. I think that is a great indication of the volume and quality of the nominees that come from our district - and in Kim's effort in assisting students interested in a service academy go through this difficult process.
Feel free to contact me anytime you have questions.
