Right now i am looking for a school for Army Rotc in the Boston Area. I currently know that Umass reports to the BU campus for Army Rotc and Mass Maritime is said to work in collaboration with BU for Army Rotc. My question is do MMA cadets have to travel to the BU campus for the required Army Rotc classes(mil labs) / PT sessions ( Which i believe are held at 0600) or are both held at MMA.

Also i am not seeking a ARotc scholarship at this point in time, my only goal is to earn a commission in the U.S. Army, i looked into Norwich and was accepted but tuition was far out of my families means, so it basically left me with the options of Umass Boston and MMA( Which i didn't apply for this year) So i will have to wait until the summer to apply to MMA. I am currently enrolled in a community college and taking courses, this is my second semester and i was refereed to this community college after i was denied acceptance to MMA for the 2012/2013 year.

You may get an answer here but I expect your best bet will be to contact the cadre at UMass. There is contact info on their web site with several phone numbers and email addresses listed. Google knows all! :thumb:

Plan on doing so on monday, just wondering if any members on here have had any experience with the ROTC programs.

Several years ago MMA had a Retired Army LTC on staff who ran the AROTC program there- (which is a satellite of BU AROTC). At that time my understanding was that they conducted thier own PT down there and did MSI and MS II classes there. I can not recall his name (the last time I really looked at this was about 5 years ago so much may have changed) but if I run it down I will forward to you. I'm pretty sure though that the Mass Maritime Admissions folks can give you a point of contact to answer your question. It's a long way from Buzzards Bay to Boston- without an arrangement like the one I described, I can't see how it would be a viable program.

Bruno----- Thats exactly what i am thinking there is no way MMA would ask a cadet to drive over an hour to BU multiple times a week for PT(which takes place at 5 or 6 am) and ROTC Mil labs( another commute in the evening), it would nearly be impossible to complete tasks at MMA and BU AROTC if you had to travel every day you're wasting 4 hours in travel each day.
