Medical Disqualification......

I am being recruited by USNA for track and field and went out for an official visit already. I just recently received a letter stating that I had been disqualified by DoDMERB for minor headaches that I had a year and a half ago. This problem was resolved and I have not had any more issues for a long time. I had to send in letters from my doctor for my remedial stating that everything is resolved but I was still told that I was not up to standard. HOwever, they said i would be automatically considered for a waiver.

Can anyone tell me about this waiver process and how willing USNA is when considering waivers for candidates/recruits for the academy and/or NAPS? Also, can the coach help me in a situation like this?

Navy is my number one choice and I am one of their top recruits for track, so I am hoping this will not hinder my chances of joining the team.

Every medical situation is different. I'd contact Larry Mullen (contact info on DODMERB forum).

I'm not sure how much -- if at all -- coaches can help with a medical issue. I'd guess it depends on the issue itself -- some things are waiverable and others really aren't. Larry is your best bet for accurate and timely assistance.
