So I just took the medical exam and everything seemed to go OK, but I didn't really see the doctor long. How do I know if I need any waivers or not?

You have to wait until DoDMERB updates your portal. If you are qualified, it's all good. If not, then ROTC will have to ask for a waiver and you will be instructed as to what to do next.

How long does that usually take?

My kid's results were posted in a week an a half. He was honest about pulling a back muscle during baseball last year and checked "yes" under the "any back pain" section. He is now catagorized as "remedial" for an existing "orthopedic condition". We are awaiting the snail mail with necessary forms for his pediatrician. Fingers remain crossed.

(Since he finished the baseball season last year with no lingering pain, played in a summer basketball league, excelled in varsity football in the fall, played varsity basketball in the winter and now plays varsity baseball again all since pulling his muscle, chances are good his pediatrician will give him "full release" for sports!)

Mine took about a week and half to say I was disqualified with a letter being mailed out a day after.
