Medical waivers

got waiver but it was too late

Just wanted to post an update. My son got the waiver some weeks ago but it was too late for a LOA. His status says "on hold" and the Academy wants to sponsor him for a year at the New Mexico Academy in preparation for next year. But even there we need to wait for an opening. Trying to stay positive but this process has been exhausting. And now he missed all the deadlines to answer to the other colleges he was accepted at. Community college for a year it is...

SUNY maritime has the exact same degrees and it isn't to late to apply. It's a similar regiment lifestyle

Got into NMMI

Thanks! But just as I clicked "send" on my previous post, we got an email from the swim coach at USMMA notifying my son that he got a spot at NMMI. We are very relieved and my son is very excited. I didn't realize that NMMI only received 50 to 60 sponsored kids every year from all 4 Academies. That is not much and makes us feel even more privileged to have a spot. That is what my son wants and I know he will excel. Sometimes you have to go with Plan B.

I'm glad the waiver finally came through. It was the most frustrating part for us. Best of luck at NMMi and see you at USMMA the following year.
