I recieved word early last week that my waiver was granted (after the fifth rebutle...) and have been checking the Academyadmissions website everyday to see if it has been updated. It still says disquallified.

Did I recieve my waiver too late or am I still going to be considered? Im kinda woried seeing as the mass acceptance takes place right around now and it appears that admissions does not know that I am now a fully qualified candidate.

I did call admissions the other day and they said they had recieved my waiver information so thats good. They also said I would be considered. But my application still hasnt been updated. (yes i know i pretty much answered my question)

Since my file is getting to Admissions so late is that going to hurt my chances of being offered an appointment?

    Thanks

I would think you have as good a chance as anyone else.

The admissions process is completely separate from the medical portion. The only time that admissions reviews your medical status is after a decision has been made to offer you an appointment.

So it is never to late to get a medical waiver. I would suggest that you contact your admissions counselor to inform them of your new medical status.

Were you ever considered a "candidate" on the status page?

    Late Medical Waivers

    Bairdlax:

Hang in there. My son is same situation at USNA--actually won't get official waiver until later this week/early next. I have been told that Appointment can come as late as end of April. He was waived by USAFA in late January and received Appointment last week.

    P. Yes i have been listed as Candidate for as long as i remember so since around september. My problem is that i was DQed in August and then had my waiver denied, followed by four rebutles that were denied. What do you know the fifth time is the charm...

    C. thanks. Its tough waiting, even more so than usual, cause i want to make sure that my file is given a fair chance and isn't being held up by some glitch in the system keeping me listed as DQed. Also now that the mass Appointments are being issued I hope Im not left in a pool of applicants with few or no Appointments left to be handed out.

    We will see I guess.
Also Ive been calling my AC alot and other people at the Academy. Hopefully my frequent calls aren't getting annoying.

They are probably just super busy this time of year (March mass appointments), and are not updating computers as often as we'd like. Good luck!

    To Bairdlax,

I'm applying this year and will most likely run into the same problem with my asthma and was wondering what you proposed during each rebutle and what you did to finally convince the dodmerb that you were medically qualified.

Don't give up yet, my online application still says "candidate" and "complete". My ALO was totally surprised when I told him personally that I had been appointed, as he hasn't been notified by the academy yet.

Lai. Initially my rebutles were based on the letters that I recieved each time my waiver was denied. I looked up the specific DQ i was facing and went from there. But that didnt work. I callled Sgt. Owens and found out the specific thing that was keeping me from getting my waiver and then went to another doctor and got a letter saying i met that requirement. Honestly, meeting the standardsis only halfthe part, the way you have your doctor word their letter is the rest. I knew i met the standards but wasnt given a waiver until I hit the nail on the head and had my doctor wordit in a specific way.

Remember DONT LIE. If you dont meet the standards then there's nothing you can do. If you lie about it you will be kicked out of the Academy when they find out. Word things cleverly if necessary, but always make sure you can not be accused of lying.

    PM returned.
