Here's a clip from the TV series in the late 1950's. Ziv production made the TV show and looks like they are starting to release the series. West Point looks to be doing the same for their series. Nimitz library has copies but the rights were reserved.

I was unable to get the clip if someone could help on you tube.

thanks

The opening and closing credits appear to be the only thing on YouTube.

Oh wow! Thanks for posting this. I used to watch this regularly as an impressionable young lad. Even I thought the plots were cornball but it was like a carwreck, I couldn't take my eyes away. The one episode I remember most was the 2 firstie roomates, one greaseball (that is an official Midshipman phrase) was going to make it all the way through with no demerits and his roomate was 1 demerit away from getting kicked out on conduct. One night on liberty in town, the doofus lost his white gloves and, of course, Dudley Dooright had his. As they were about to enter the gate, the OOD (Officer of the Day) was standing inside eyeballing the returnees from liberty. This was it! If Doofus gets caught, he is history. Dooright hesitates and risks it all and gives his roomie one of his gloves for his right hand. The tension builds as they move towards the gate......suddenly Dooright whips off his other glove and gives it to Doofus. They argue. They say noble things to each other. They head for the gate. You, of course, know what happens. And then they filled my head with those strains of "Anchors Aweigh" as the credits rolled. They also had these hot chicks in town too.

Little did I know that I'd be standing in the same ranks in Tecumseh Court like Doofus and Dooright in the credits. Ah, youth.

Not sure when the episodes will be on sale but it looks like they are heading that direction. For many years people have tried to gain copies to these shows with no luck. This is the first I've heard about any releases that may be done.

The shows are goofy but have the wholesome Leave it to Beaver effect. Many stars like Clint Eastwood, Robert Blake .... are in the series.

It's funny in the credits the thanks the producers give to the school for making it "accurate". I have seen very few, if any, videos that seem "accurate" with the exception of one.....

CARRIER! I loved that show. It gave you a feel for the positive and negative side of the Navy, which is far more appreciated than a white washed account. I heard the Navy wasn't too happy with the series, but as an outsider, it helped me respect the service more. I felt like I was being given a clearer view. :thumb:
