From the newest "The Atlantic". For those of you not familiar with this guy- Michael Yon writes a fairly well respected blog on military affairs from where we are engaged. Yon's been pretty strident over the years about failures and successes in Iraq and Afghanistan- recently was kicked out of Afghanistan. He's got a lot to say- I'm not in a position to say whether they are all 100% gospel- I typically don't trust people who see things as "my way or the highway". However there is no denying that much of his analysis in the past has been pretty much on target. He certainly doesn't pull any punches and has become no fan of Gen McChrystal.
You can find Yon's blog on facebook if interested.

Bruno,

Is this the guy who, back in the earlier days of Iraq, was posting stories about how the war there was going better than it was being portrayed in the regular media (though not perfectly by any stretch)?

I've heard some good stuff about him...

I follow his major posts, and he seems very accurate. Whether his strategic theories are correct, remains to be seen, but he has been on the leading edge of correct ideas before.
