Just curious... I haven't seen any news (on this forum or elsewhere) of Michigan nominations since Sen. Debbie Stabenow announced hers in December.

Anyone know anything? Thanks in advance.

i received one from levin about 2 weeks back and MOC (McCotter) on thursday.

Congratulations! Which academy/ies?

And is there a press release from Carl Levin?

(I don't have anyone in the running this year but have become a bit of a SA geek in anticipation of DS's application for next year. And there's a local kid seeking an appointment to USNA)

both for USAFA. i don't know anything about a press release from Levin.

My son received one from Sen. Stabenow and one from Rep. Camp for USNA and one from Rep. Camp for USMA. Still waiting....

I wish we could find out more. We feel like we stalk the mailman - lol

ok so I am also from MI and was wondering. Is it best to do the congressional application as soon as it comes available or wait until my junior grades are locked in?

My DD received a nomination to the USNA from Senator Levin, and has received her letter of appointment. Needless to say, she is very excited to be part of the class of 2015!

is it at all weird that i was denied a nomination from Senator Levin because i had already recieved one from my MOC (Kildee)?

My son received a letter from Levin's office last year, saying that he would not be receiving a nomination from Levin because their office had been informed that he (my son) had already already received a nomination from "another source" (unidentified). At the time, that was news to us.

Philip--Weird, no, but disappointing for you I'm sure. It seems relatively common for senators (their staffs) to talk to each other before finalizing their nominations so as not to duplicate the lists--spread the wealth among the constituents in the state. Not as many senators also talk to all the Congressional members in their state since there are so many of them, especially in larger states, but it does happen. My son got a nom from our congressman, and went into his 2 senator interviews knowing that he could only get one at most since they were up front about telling the candidates it would be one or the other (or none) but not both.

My son also received a letter from Levin stating congratulations but due to the fact that another Senator had nominated him that he would not be receiving a nom from him.

i think disappointing pretty well covers it. Nonetheless, it might have been nice to know this before i made the 45 minute drive to the pointless interview and waited a month for the letter to come, especially seeing as how some people apparently got two nominations anyway.

I'm not trying to knock anyone who got two nominations (congrats by the way), don't get me wrong. I just think it's a bit sensless to be tossed from consideration for two thirds of my chances at an appointment simply because my congressman turned his nominations in early.

We had no way of knowing if my son would receive any nominations. All his interviews were 8 weeks apart with none of them notifying us till about 2 weeks after the last interview took place. You have to try for all the available nominations that are out there. We did...
