My daughter has a friend at USNA and we would like to treat him to a nice dinner Saturday after the game (Nov 20). Is that doable?

We will be there for CVW and just wanted to do something nice for this young man. He is from our hometown and I'm thinking he would really appreciate a good meal.

And on the CVW note, should my daughter bring some sort of backpack to carry to classes?

:smile:Thanks!

Not sure if you can do dinner after the game. My son is a plebe, and can only leave the yard if he has liberty. Maybe a more experienced parent can answer that. However, there are many good places to eat right outside the gate. You could always pick something up, and eat it on the yard somewhere.

As for the backpack for your daughter, yes I would have her bring one. Most did when we did the CVW last year. He was even allowed to participate in the class if he wanted to. (worksheet or something like that) Make sure you send cookies or some homemade treat in that backpack. It will be greatly appreciated by the mids. Our 7 dozen cookies were gone in a flash.

Have fun, and take lots of pics!

I suggest you have your daughter contact the mid/friend via text or Facebook with the invitation to dinner after the game....he'll know if he's able to get town liberty (probably before that Saturday), if he's upperclass( not a plebe) it should be easier for him unless he has military obligations/duty that evening.

Plebes generally have town liberty until midnight on Saturday. If he has duty that evening, he will not be available.

My son is a Plebe and we have taken him and other Plebes out to dinner after every home game so far this season. They have liberty until midnight unless they are on restriction or have duty.

Thanks everyone!

Both mids are available! I ended up inviting my daughter's squadron leader from NASS too. I found Lewens' Steakhouse and Chart House on the net (i'm not a big fan of the chain food establishments, ie, Ruth's Chris--prefer a locally owned type of experience). Any opinions or other suggestions? Neither mid is under time constraints. Also, I'm thinking a car from the hotel can take us to a restaurant--staying at The Maryland Inn--if not within walking distance.

Does anyone have any idea about when the game should end? It starts at 3:30 I believe. So, I guess dinner reservations at 8:30pm???

I'm very thankful for the opportunity to do this for these young men. But selfishly, it is my hope that one day when my child is far away from home someone will do something nice for her too.

Wow, 7 dozen!!!!!

We are coming to Annapolis form West Point, so is anyone aware of a local bakery where I can buy 7 DOZEN cookies ? Or at least a couple dozen cupcakes?

Restaurants :

Eaten several times at Lewnes(locally owned) and Chart House....both really good 4+ stars, convenient to USNA and excellent service... walking distance if it's nice weather( 18-25 min walk from Gate 1) and you're not exhausted from the long day's activities....consider a water taxi from City Dock for a fun perspective...you can disembark right at Chart House or an easy 1 block walk to Lewnes. O'Learys Seafood ( directly across street from Lewnes and locally owned) is another 4+ star that is well worth keeping on your radar.
Btw- worth a note : recent visit to USNA this fall I asked my hotel's consierge to make a reservation for us (it was for later that evening)...we got most impressive VIP treatment at Chart House by our wait staff and chef....and complimentary desserts and coffee to boot !....I'll definitely hope to repeat that experience next visit ! and yes, I make a huge effort to include a few more Mids at our table each visit....it's always an honor and great pleasure to host them :thumb:

Go NAVY Beat ARMY,

greeneagle5, thanks! Lewnes or Chart House it is. I'll let the mids choose which one they prefer.
