    Hey All,

So I've seen this online but it also came in my acceptance package from NROTC. Apparently, there exists such thing as Midshipman officers. Obviously, I am familiar with the typical 4/C, 3/C, 2/C, 1/C system that exists but I am unaware of Midshipman also carrying unique ranks, insignias, and designations on their uniforms.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, here is the link:
    http://www.tpub.com/content/administration/12966/css/12966_186.htm

Can anyone shed light on this? What exactly is a Midshipman officer? Does every MIDN carry some sort of Midshipman officer title?

    Thanks

That link is to sell you the rank as a mid. All cadets wear rank on their uniforms. The amount of stripes allow other cadets to tell if they are a C4 - C1.

The only unique items that I know of that cadets wear are forges. These forges are specific colors. For example in the AFROTC system they have AAS and Honor Guard. Members of AAS wear blue and gold forges. Honor wear blue and white.

Other than that the uniform looks the same...name tag, insignia and rank.

Simple answer, it exists for cadets to learn via mimicking the AD world who is who in the command structure.

I.E. go AD everyone knows how the Commander is, this a way to say here is the Commander of Cadets.

I know others will probably take me out for that generalization, but to me there is no reason to go into great depth re: this topic. Once at the SA or ROTC, they will teach you all of this.

Knowing it or not knowing it now will not make you the Commander of Cadets.

I respect that desire. I respect the pro-active action. It will help you in life. However, making rank is also a blend of many aspects that are not purely academic.

    Good luck.
